๐นThe EAC is advancing efforts to reduce barriers to cross-border professional practice and labour mobility.
The EAC Secretary General, Amb. Stephen Mbundi, has received high-performance ICT infrastructure worth EUR 205,000 from @eacgiz to strengthen the EAC Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) Digital Platform - Africaโs first digital mechanism for mutual recognition of professional engineers.
โ๏ธThe equipment is set to enhance the EACโs capacity to securely host, manage and scale the platform, improving cybersecurity, reliability, data backup and system continuity.
๐นThe equipment is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the Digitalisation for East African Trade and Integration (DIGEAT) Project.

The EAC Deputy Secretary General @SMannette1 this afternoon led the official closing of the condolence book in honour of the late Kenyan Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga - @RailaOdinga
Over the past days, the book has remained open at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, allowing staff, dignitaries and well-wishers to sign and pay tribute to a statesman whose life and work deeply shaped the regionโs democratic journey.
โAs we close this book today, we do not close the chapter of his legacy. Rather, we reaffirm our shared commitment to the ideals he embodied โ dialogue over division, service above self, and an unwavering belief that Africaโs best days lie ahead,โ she said.

The East African Community (EAC) Secretariat conveys its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the Government and people of the Republic of Kenya on the passing of the former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.
Rt. Hon. Odinga was a towering Pan-African statesman, a courageous reformer and a relentless voice for freedom, democracy and social justice.
He was an affable, charismatic and an enigma central to Kenyaโs politics.
His political life embodied resilience, conviction and sacrifice in pursuit of a fairer and more united Kenya.
A steadfast believer in regional cooperation and Pan-African ideals, Rt. Hon. Odinga championed the cause of integration, infrastructure and collective development.
He was a consistent advocate for equality and inclusion and a champion for womenโs representation.
His conviction that Africaโs strength lies in its unity resonated deeply with the EACโs vision of a peaceful, prosperous and people-centred region.
His passing marks the loss of a leader of rare foresight and principle. One whose courage, intellect and devotion to the common good inspired millions and elevated Africaโs discourse on governance, equity and development.
His legacy will remain a guiding light for generations committed to building a better, more united region and continent.
On behalf of the East African Community and on my own behalf, I extend sincere condolences to his family, friends and to the people and Government of the Republic of Kenya during this time of great sorrow.

๐ L'Accord sur la Zone de libre-รฉchange tripartite (ZLET) est entrรฉ en vigueur le 25 juillet 2024. Et depuis, ces trois communautรฉs se complรจtent ร travers le renforcement de lโintรฉgration et de la coopรฉration dans plusieurs domaines de dรฉveloppement : en particulier le commerce, les douanes et les affaires monรฉtaires ; le transport, les communications et lโinformation ; la technologie, lโรฉnergie et lโindustrie ; ainsi que le genre, lโagriculture, lโenvironnement et les ressources naturelles.
