I've noticed a cognitive improvement since starting cannabis use.
Decade of research: Most cannabinoids improved memory, thinking, and behavior in Alzheimer’s models!
A review of 2014–2024 studies found that most natural (THC, CBD, etc.) and synthetic cannabinoids improved memory, thinking, and behavior.
They appear to protect brain cells (mainly via CB1) and reduce inflammation (mainly via CB2).
Pairing them with drugs that boost acetylcholine may work even better.

Salk researchers found that cannabinol (CBN) protects nerve cells from oxidative damage and cell death.
This suggest CBN’s potential to treat age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
CBN protects neurons from oxidative stress and cell death, two major contributors to Alzheimer’s.
The study focused on oxytosis (also called ferroptosis), a process linked to aging brains and possibly Alzheimer’s, triggered by loss of the antioxidant glutathione leading to lipid oxidation and neural cell damage/death.
CBN treatment of nerve cells preserved mitochondrial function (the cell’s powerhouses); oxidation normally causes mitochondria to curl into donut shapes (also seen in Alzheimer’s brain cells), but CBN prevented this and maintained function.
Implications extend beyond Alzheimer’s, as mitochondrial dysfunction affects various tissues and aging.
