You can tithe faithfully for years and still remain broke if you neglect the principles of financial stewardship. Let me explain something powerful from the book of Haggai. In Haggai 1:6, God tells His people: “You earn wages, only to put them into a bag with holes.” Think about that for a moment. These were people who acknowledged God, yet they were experiencing frustration in their finances. They earned money, but it seemed as though their money was never enough. They had income, but they were not seeing the results they expected. Why? When you read the context, you discover that the people had neglected the house of the Lord while focusing on their own houses (Haggai 1:2–9). God was confronting their misplaced priorities. Now, here is an important lesson: honoring God with your tithe does not exempt you from the responsibility of managing the rest of your money wisely. You can give your 10% faithfully and still mismanage the remaining 90%. You can pray for financial breakthrough while living without a budget. You can sow seeds while spending more than you earn. You can trust God for provision while ignoring debt, unnecessary expenses, poor financial decisions, and the need to save. You can be generous in church but financially irresponsible everywhere else. God is not glorified by our giving alone. Our stewardship matters too. The remaining 90% also belongs to God. How you spend it, save it, invest it, and use it to meet your responsibilities matters. Tithing is not a substitute for financial wisdom. Giving is an act of worship, but managing money wisely is also part of faithful stewardship. Before you keep praying for more money, ask yourself: Am I managing what I already have? Do I know where my money goes every month? Am I spending more than I earn? Do I have a savings plan? Am I making financial decisions that align with my prayers? Sometimes, the answer is not simply to earn more. It is to become a better steward of what is already in your hands. Read Haggai 1:5–11 and examine the context carefully. Pray, yes. Give faithfully, yes. But also learn, plan, budget, save, and exercise discipline. Do not honor God with 10% while living as though the other 90% has nothing to do with Him. Faithfulness is not only about what leaves your hands as an offering. It is also about how you handle what remains.

Want to become a truly strong man? Fear God more than man. (Prov. 29:25) Flee sexual immorality. (1 Cor. 6:18) Control your anger. (Prov. 16:32) Love your wife sacrificially. (Eph. 5:25) Lead your family in the Lord. (Eph. 6:4) Stand firm in sound doctrine. (Titus 2:1) Resist temptation. (James 4:7) Humble yourself before God. (1 Pet. 5:6) Endure suffering faithfully. (James 1:12) Be courageous in the faith. (1 Cor. 16:13) Above all, follow Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of godly manhood.

This Singaporean ex Foreign Minister knows European history than most Europeans. And he explains the Russian-Ukrainian war precisely in its historical context. And explains the context of ongoing explosive street protests.
