Autumn color has finally showed up in Central PA. ‘Forest Interlude’ from Donkey Kong Country seemed fitting.

Pretty cool fog bank just north of downtown Harrisburg this morning.

Pleased to announce that I will be looking forward to saying the exact same thing seven days in a row. Fire me now.

Pretty dramatic October sky this afternoon across Central PA as gusty showers with very lightning moved through. High shear definitely made for some turbulent cloud designs.

Flying high is really overrated. Some of the most cinematic drone footage comes from flying low and slow. 🎥: Golden hour at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, PA.

The house explosion in Perry County, PA this morning left an incredibly wide debris field. The aerial views show the extent of the destruction. Tragically, one man was killed.

Great to do lunch and catch up with Chris Martz and Ed Russo. Yes, we talked weather but a lot of other stuff too. 3 Meteorologists walk into a restaurant….(insert punchline here) @ChrisMartzWX @EdRussoWX

Important nuance here regarding the claim about the 2026 temperature record ⬇️. Important reminder that science is, by design, filled with nuance… but the media, and some scientists like to ignore that.
Reminder warmest != hottest when it comes to summer temperatures across the Lower 48 nowhere does NOAA say "hottest summer on record" so don't misquote them (or lie about it)

Interesting how the same background climate state gets nonstop attention when it amplifies extreme weather, but when that same pattern dramatically suppresses extreme weather elsewhere… crickets. Maybe there’s far more nuance than the relentless doom & gloom narrative suggests🤔
It looks like a lock. 🔒 We are witnessing history in the making. There have been no hurricanes in the North Atlantic so far this year. 🌀 September 10th (Thursday) marks the climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. And if we make it through Friday without one forming, which appears to be a lock now, it will be the first time in the satellite era (since 1966) that we have gotten this far into the calendar year without one hurricane formations in the Atlantic basin. In fact, the last time that this happened was in 1941, but the lack of satellite observations mean that it is very likely we missed a hurricane or two out over open water that didn't make landfall and/or come into contact with an unfortunate ship. If by some miracle we make it through September 21st without one, it will be the first time since 1914 (the only year other than 1907 where no hurricanes formed that season that we know of). But climatology is not in our favor, even with El Niño increasing the deep-layer vertical wind shear (change in wind speed or direction with height) in the 250–850 mb layer. For non-weather geeks / non-meteorologists, shear suppresses tropical cyclone intensification because it tilts the storm's vortex, knocking the low-level center out of alignment with its mid- and upper-level convection. Shear imports low-entropy (cooler/drier) air into the storm's warm core, which dries the eyewall out, and causes the heat engine that keeps a cyclone organized to break down.

"Climate Crisis" is such an utterly lazy, cultish, unscientific, overused, meaningless phrase. It becomes religion for people who have no knowledge on the subject and that's sad to see.

Intense storms once again moving into parts of Central PA. The one moving into Franklin County is a severe t'storm with 60 mph winds and very heavy rain. Strong cell also moving through Cumberland County.

Solid line of storms is starting to cut through central Pennsylvania right now. I expect these storms to take a more south dive along instability gradient. I'd say they would have a hard time staying this intense east of US-15. Stay weather aware for high winds / heavy rain.

Severe T'storm Watch is ongoing through 2 pm this afternoon for the first round of storms moving across Central PA right now. Another round is possible later tonight. Remain weather aware today! #pawx

Some big storms are moving closer to Central PA. They should lose some steam with their eastward push but the one heading into Mifflin County is currently severe with hail and gusty winds. Also watching the cell just southwest of McConnellsburg which is also severe.

There’s nothing “possible” about this tornado in Columbia, Lancaster Co. A circulation is on the ground and visibly lofting debris. That's a tornado. The NWS survey will determine strength and give ultimate EF rating soon. Pic via @JeremyZarfos1

Severe T'storm Watch in place for the western half of the viewing area. Fully expect these storms to weaken some as they approach the I-81 corridor where it's been cooler with clouds and showers locked in all day. Nonetheless, any strong strom capable of gusty winds/hvy rain.
