So we’re supposed to believe there’s no money for health care, but there’s enough money for ICE to spend nearly $500 million buying an abandoned private prison in MN that was originally offered for sale at $75 million just last year?
If that sounds like taxpayers are getting ripped off, it’s because you are.

I took about 50,000 photos through a 14" telescope last night to produce this: A hyper-detailed photo of the full moon. The fidelity of the photo was great enough to allow me to greatly enhance the color, revealing a hidden world of geological diversity.

this may sound ridiculous but just like with dolly, i somehow did not realize it was possible for patrick stewart to die. i think i genuinely subconsciously believed he had the life span of a tree and would be around long after i was gone

Happy Wednesday from Nia!
This sweetheart has been with us for over 2 years and while all of the volunteers and cats adore her, she deserves a home to call her own. She is only 7 years old and has plenty of years left. Please share to give this beautiful girl a chance. ♥️

THE PHOTOGRAPHS KNEW BEFORE I DID.
by Michael Whelan
The heartbreaking things love could not bear to see.
Tonight, for the first time since Rebecca died, I opened my phone and traveled through photographs taken during the final seven months of her life.
I thought I knew what I would find.
I was wrong.
There she was. My beautiful Rebecca. The woman I had loved for more than half a century. But looking at her tonight, I saw something my heart had refused to acknowledge when I stood behind the camera.
My God, how terribly sick she was.
Her face was drawn. Her eyes seemed burdened by an exhaustion no sleep could repair. Parkinson's had slowly taken her strength, her independence, her voice. And in those photographs I could finally see how much it had taken from her spirit.
She looked tired beyond tired. Tired of fighting a body that could no longer offer her peace.
How had I not seen it when I was standing right there?
I had cared for her every day. I knew her medications, her movements, her fears. I could sense her discomfort before she found the words to express it. And still, I looked at her and saw the woman I hoped would recover, not the woman who was quietly approaching the end.
Perhaps love does that. Perhaps it keeps our eyes fixed on the person we remember, while the truth gathers silently around us.
Tomorrow might be better.
Another medication might help.
Maybe she'll laugh again.
Hope was the last language spoken in our house.
Tonight, I wanted to reach into those photographs. To cup her face in my hands, kiss her forehead, and whisper, "Sweetheart, I see it now. I see how hard you were fighting. I'm so sorry."
I wanted to rescue her from a picture.
What a heartbreaking impossibility.
For months I have mourned Rebecca's death. Tonight I mourned her suffering. The pain she endured. The words she could no longer speak. The exhaustion I could comfort but never remove.
And I cried for the man behind the camera, too. A husband still bargaining with tomorrow, still believing there might be one more good morning.
Yet I was there. Through the terrible nights and fragile dawns. She had told me she never wanted to leave our home, and I kept my promise. She died where she belonged, surrounded by the familiar walls of our life together.
The photographs had been recording our goodbye long before my heart could recognize it.
Tonight I didn't want another picture of us young and smiling. I wanted one more difficult afternoon. One more chance to hold her hand and tell her she didn't have to be brave for me anymore.
And for the first time, instead of wishing Rebecca could come back to me, I wished I could go back to her.
Not to ask her to stay.
Only to hold her while she was still here.
Finally, after this heartache journey, I put down my phone, turned toward her urn beside my bed, and, as I do every night, I wished my beautiful Rebecca good night.💔

watched a guy follow ChatGPT’s instructions to add half a bottle of soy sauce to the recipe he was making, so I guess technically I am going to be left behind by AI when the inevitable stroke takes him off this mortal plane

We cannot truly love God unless this love overflows into love for our brothers and sisters. And we cannot truly love our neighbor except as children of the same Father who loved us first in his Son, Jesus. #GospelOfTheDay (Mt 22:34–40)
