This totally describes my experience as a headteacher in the current environment.
Something has to change - it’s not sustainable.
People working in schools are often going full tilt, constantly busy, always stimulated by their environment. I'm increasingly aware of this as a problem around three limitations that affect everyone:
a) Cognitive bandwidth- you can only think about so many things at once
b) Chronological bandwidth- your time is finite, and only so much can be done
c) Emotional bandwidth- you can only care about so much at once
Overloading any one of these three leads to that sinking sense of helplessness, stress, and being overwhelmed. We often conflate all of these as workload, but that collapses too many things into one. I also think that they play off against each other. Lack of time affects what you can think about; but having to juggle too many relationships can also exhaust what you can get done, etc.
Calling @MonkEmma ….. your magic is needed on this, I’m afraid…

The UK is being governed for 30%
👉 30% still back Brexit
👉 30% want to leave the ECHR
Yet govt, Tories & Reform all rule as if that’s a mandate.
The 60% majority who want sanity, rights & Europe? Silenced.
Now this is a flag that sums up what’s great about Britain! 🏴 #flagsforfreedom #flagday
Been away for a week on holiday and switched work emails off. Got back yesterday and switched them back on….
In my first week of the holidays and I come back to this. Ridiculous job….

This interview with @TomBaldwin66 draws out the private Starmer that those of us who follow him about and see when the camera isn’t rolling & he’s not in public view.
He is, of all the PMs I have covered the most ‘ordinary’ and down-to-earth & yet the public perception of him is often that he’s posh, lofty, out of touch.
I think one of the most revealing segments about Starmer is that he delayed his family holiday - his first in a year after that mad election period & early days of govt - to go to to Leeds clean out his brother Nick’s home after he died from cancer, throwing away the rotting food from the fridge, picking up dirty clothes and cleaning out the bath & loo. Why didn’t he get a cleaner in? “I didn’t want anyone else there. He was my brother – I didn’t want to let him down.”

The government just gave half a million kids the nutrition they need to learn, grow and thrive.
What a win! 🍽️💥

This simply isn’t true.

The football season starts tomorrow and if you’re a Fantasy League type, please feel free to join my league! #fpl #FantasyFootball
Anyone fancy joining a league of teachers to see if you can beat them at Fantasy Football, feel free to join. No teaching necessary. Might even be an advantage once term kicks in…

Watching this on repeat….!
So odd to see promises being delivered on, action being taken quickly, and just, I suppose, common sense happening..,,
The thing is, it’s not hard, just shows the Tories were just so bad at it.
I have spoken to the BMA junior doctors committee, and can announce that talks to end their industrial action will begin next week.
We promised to get negotiations up and running and that is what we are doing.
