My boyfriend and I had been together for four years. One Saturday, we went to a restaurant for dinner. Halfway through the meal, a woman walked up to our table. She looked at him, smiled, and said, “Babe, you didn’t tell me you were bringing your sister.” My boyfriend immediately stood up. “Why are you here?” The woman looked confused. “Why wouldn’t I be here? You said we were meeting tonight.” I asked her how she knew him. She looked at me and said, “I’m his fiancée.” Then she showed me their engagement photos. The wedding date was three months away. I turned to him and asked, “What exactly am I to you?” He couldn’t answer. But the woman said something that made my stomach drop.
