A 2008 song from a mega-flop Telugu movie would have gone deep underground into oblivion by now. But, like ARR always says, it may take some time for people to process what he does, but once they connect, there is no looking back.

Either the director or the producer might not have understood the vision of ARR and must have been told to resort to the references. I clearly see zero chemistry between ARR and Nitesh and at the BLR event, he almost spoke with frustration about the rejection of 30/32 tunes.
My theory on the mixed response to #RamayanaMovie songs:
AR Rahman has played it safe, The epic carries too much emotion for risky experiments.
Functional songs for the heartland, and Hans Zimmer-ARR orchestral pieces for the ARR Fans/nice ears.
The songs will grow overtime
I would personally consider anyone musically illiterate if they judge a song on the first listen or sometimes even halfway through it.
There is a high chance they are missing out on absolute gold mines...
