Happy International Day of Forests! Let the trees stand tall again. Let the chimpanzees laugh again. Let Uganda’s children grow up under a sky still shaded by green. Protect nature. Protect life. Protect Uganda.

Lake Retba, also known as Lac Rose, is in Senegal, northwest of the capital, Dakar. It is known for its pinkish water, salt harvesting and striking contrast between the lake, white salt banks and surrounding sandy landscape.

A giant of the Mara has fallen. Fred, an iconic Mara Tusker, was found dead today of natural causes. Well into his fifth decade, Fred served as a symbol of the success @KWSKenya and Mara Elephant Project achieved in combatting ivory poaching over the last 15 years. Fred’s counterparts didn’t live to see old age. How lucky we are that he did. Collared since 2013, his tracking informed an approach that other Tuskers across Kenya benefited from. Even in death, Fred is the emblem for the Maasai Mara’s magic; thriving despite the challenges and contributing to a brighter future. He will be missed, but what a life well lived. We will be remembering Fred in the coming days. Stay tuned for more opportunities to join us in celebrating the life of this gentle giant.

In 2006, Mr. M7 donated 7,000ha of natural forest in Kalangala to Bidco to destroy & plant oil palm trees. Can you imagine? Today, nearly 7,000 hectares of forest cover is cleared, gone. We've never forgotten that tragedy. Personally, I boycotted all Bidco products till todate.

Ugandan farmers know their shea trees could yield value for generations to come — if only they could afford to leave them standing that long. Maxima Nsimenta, MBA ’26, is working to ensure they can. brnw.ch/21x6cT8

The reason Ruto speaks confidently in rallies telling us to use “formal channels “ to get documents held by the state is he knows his gatekeepers in Parliament will never approve this business to make it to the floor. This one on the Lamu Refinery has suffered the same fate. We must uproot this entire system in 2027 to rescue our country.

Prioritize clean energy.
Stop building more petrol stations, build these EV charging locations instead.

15 billion trees cannot replace a single natural forest ecosystem. Restoration and preservation must work together, not act as a cover for deforestation @DeboraBarasa. 👉 act.gp/4hglvcA #HandsOffOurForests #ProtectKenyasForests @Environment_Ke @KeForestService

Solar.
Last month, total electric bill at @KarisMedical Naalya was 100k. At our Kyanja location, it was 2.6m! Sometimes it has gone as high as 3m. At Naalya, I made the decision to use solar as primary, and umeme as backup. We run all air conditioning, lab equipment, refrigeration, washer and dryer, lights, computers, everything! Naalya still experiences power outages. We haven’t. Solar is the future!

ABSURD.
The Botswana govt went 500 years back and did what our ancestors did. It authorised the killing of 23 elephants to provide meat for the Sept., 30 Independence Day feasts. Local media published images from different parts of Botswana showing residents gathering around elephant carcasses, some with knives in hand and sharing the meat.

Dance, clap 4 climate health.
Who said climate learning has to be serious all the time? We brought music and culture into the room, creating space for joy, connection and learning. Through songs, stories and shared moments, we found a different way to talk about climate change and how it connects to our everyday lives. Because climate learning is also about culture, community and the experiences that shape how we understand the world around us.

Mr Dangote, isn't it common sense that harmony between you and the People of Lamu is necessary for your success? The President in power is not synonymous with Kenyans. International law requires compliance with the host Country's Laws.
