New biology leads to new treatments! Glad to share our work on how molecular vulnerabilities can be exploited to kill leukemia, glioblastoma and other cancer types.

The circle of life for science these days. Not a bad thing per se since you're just trying to limit your cherry-picking to one tree instead of an entire farm. And if you share your data to help other not-as-rich scientists to find their sweet treats!

An NIH advisory group also suggested 70K as the minimum salary for postdocs. Soon enough labs will follow the trend!
New salaries coming up:
MS students - $27,000. PhD students - $40,000. Postdocs - $70,000.
This is how the government can initiate a change in academia.
▫️
And yet there is one caveat.
This budget is not ‘set in stone’.
It’s $1.8 billion spread over 5 years first.
It can be canceled after the federal election.
▫️
Many people ask why we get such small salaries in academia.
A typical answer is: “It’s historical. It’s about passion, not money”.
But in fact - it’s a political decision.
If we follow the federal funding, we'll discover that its size inevitably comes from a political debate.
Which basically brings us back to where we were:
“In public opinion, scientists are passionate tinkerers who do not need that much money”.
▫️
Any opinion from the policy makers?
