Yup all they had to was cancel a comic about a nurse to make it happen

It was a comic made on a bet on who could make a best selling comic and I imagine that the editor thought the cheesecake would be enough to get it done

That is deliberate the book is kind of meant to be a parody but it’s not well written
It’s not worse but is so stuck in the time it was made it can feel like an alternate universe if you can’t remember all the weird industry drama that it comes off more inexplicable then it already is
I’m probably gonna regret reading this but it can’t be much worse than Unfunnies

Yeah it might not the most possible extensive look at it but it is noted and goes over titles and creators
I keep track of my sources at the very least it’s one of the few places that explains the odd story structure of early Spider-Man.

Dude acted like a smartass only to get cooked by your comic book knowledge.

I recommend it as a great starting point to learn about various comics it’s not perfect but it helps show a more honest view on the history and what was around
One of the important aspects is goes over is how the adult fandom was formed and how they were drawn in by the new heroes who referenced the old ones like Flash and Green Lantern, eventually leading to the JSA

just my own take on it and this is me I do think most of the silver age heroes are basically legacy characters but it should be noted it was different back then and how it evolved is different then what they did back then, the JSA heroes for example could NOT be found each month
The American Comic book Chronicle, it goes by each decade noting developments in the medium and various companies and what they brought to the table. If you stopped calling people virgin or incel you might pick it up and learn something about the history.

that one I would say maybe is a good example of developing the trope over being it.

yeah I was just thinking in terms of character starting out as a mantle pass but that one is a good example
Arguably Green Lantern if you count Abin Sur in the first issue kind of mirroring the set up, but if I had to think on what is CLOSE to what your saying it's probably Rick Jones deciding to take on the Bucky identity as cap sidekick.

So what was the first legacy in terms of how we think of it now, the original dies and the new one steps up
The idea that a cancelled comic could come back was not really a thought as the time, once a comic was done it was done why bring back a failure? So when the new Flash worked why not bring back Jay for older fans?
I read a history book on this and no…..because something like Barry Allen was completely new at the time for fans. The idea of a new reboot guy taking over meant they had no frame of reference and the first thought about this…..was Jay could come back.
