It was nearly 8 years ago when Florida averted disaster and elected Ron DeSantis as Governor.
If he had lost, which he nearly did, Florida wouldn’t be the same incredible state that it is today.
Fortunately the good guys won and have drawn even more Republicans to the Sunshine State!

Anyone claiming they care about making things more affordable for younger people should be enthusiastic about the proposal to alleviate the burden of property taxes.
The rest is just typical political blabber. No more platitudes!
The bottom line is for most millennials and Gen Z Americans—the next generation—homeownership is becoming out of reach. That’s a problem.
Addressing the runaway train called property tax is an important first step.
We should all thank @RonDeSantis for making this a priority.

Miami-Dade: Residential homesteaded property tax is about ~$0.88 billion — just 6.9% of the $12.9 billion FY 2025‑26 budge. Removing it entirely leaves 12BB to spend: Miami-Dade last operated at less than 12BB in FY ‘23‑24. So you could eliminate completely and still operate at recent levels at 100% capacity.
