Will BoE really put up interest rates in response to an oil shock? Seems kind of dumb 🛢️🏦

Wouldn't hold your breath
With landlords being driven out of the private rental market it is just as well Andy Burnham is prioritising homelessness. At some point some on the left will grasp what a second order effect is.

I'd like to point out that FoM makes it a lot easier to leave!
Burnham rules out a General Election short term!? The Brexit & People Movement Re-opening Discussion Is Likely due to the EU Summit on November 20th Testing the water to see how far he can go or come back with a deal to put to the nation or pass it through regardless?

The OBR said UK inflation is set to rise to a peak of around 3.75% by the start of next year, particularly driven by a jump in household energy bills in January Then expected to steadily decline but only reach the Government's & Bank of England's 2% inflation target in 2028

This budget does very little to the overall level of tax, and the overall level of tax is going up significantly. Here's the tax increases over the next few years, in 2026 £. You can just about see today's changes in green.

I'll just have to be patient 😅
#FOXT I'm back in here. Burnham giving a speech today and speculation of stamp duty being scrapped, which would surely be a massive and sustained boost for the sales market 'buy the rumour' 🏘️

UK new minimum wage: £27,456 per year. Higher-rate tax bracket: £50,270. 1.8x difference. In 1997 there was a 5x difference. Mind boggling.

Roman Abramovich got poisoned at one of these talks early in the war. You'd have to be mad bbc.com/news/world-europe-60…
🇷🇺 Putin has invited Zelenskyy to Moscow for direct peace talks, promising to guarantee his safety during the visit. The Kremlin says Norway's prime minister and Finland's president conveyed Zelenskyy's interest in meeting Putin during a 90-minute phone call. Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. are also preparing to resume peace negotiations in Abu Dhabi in November, although Kyiv has previously rejected Moscow as a meeting location.

Made good on this idea and sold 22% of my #BYG holding at b/e, and put the proceeds (and a bit extra) into #SAFE Safestore has reasonable exposure to 🇫🇷 and had a mild PW in Sept, but there has been considerable insider buying 🤞
⬇️0.2% this week ⬇️5.9% YTD 💰2.6% I note that a delta between the dividends of #BYG & #SAFE has been created by the BYG activist. It wouldn't surprise me if someone makes a play for SAFE as they are normally, closely matched

The entirety of the Budget appears to have been leaked to the Times, what is the point of Parliament? I look forward to Lindsay Hoyle exploding and the Government just shrugging.

This is just embarrassing. In 2019, Notre Dame burnt down. The damage was immense, costing nearly €700 million to fix. It took 5 years to reopen to the public. In the SAME WEEK, Hammersmith Bridge closed because of some structural damage. It didn’t burn down, and it didn’t collapse. Cars and buses were banned from using the bridge. Seven years later, it STILL has not reopened. We have spent £60 million since the closure, and we are nowhere close to opening it again. This is what happens when we forget how to build. Bridges close, and we are just meant to accept they will never open again. Potholes appear in the roads, and they never get fixed. Trains get delayed, and that’s just “how it is now”. We should never accept this. We are campaigning against it. Join us. What do you think?

Brutal chart. France and UK vs. Communist countries at their peak. UK public spending as % of GDP is currently above Romania, Venezuela and China. And France is a lost cause. (HM Treasury/Rand Research)
