Last week, I joined ADIC Cox to recognize our agents from @FBIWFO who are out on the streets working on the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force. Over 200 FBI personnel are working alongside task force partners to apprehend violent criminals, seize illegal drugs, and locate missing children here in Washington, D.C.
Thanks to our agents and our partners, we have recorded the largest year-to-year decrease in violent crime rates since FBI estimations began in 1936, including a 20% drop in the murder rate last year and 30% decrease in the last 21 months. The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force has arrested approximately 19,000 suspects, engaged in nearly 3,900 narcotics interdictions, and seized about 2,250 illegal firearms.
These results showcase the strength and dedication of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force and share a promise to the American people that the FBI will continue to reduce violent crime to keep the streets of our nation’s capital safe today and every day.

ALT Homeland Security Task Force investigation leads to two-year sentence for distributor of cocaine and fentanyl

ALT SAC Herrington: “As a redistributor, Mr. Su contributed to the high volumes of deadly and addictive drugs this drug trafficking organization poured into our most vulnerable communities. He directly interacted with the group leader and further endangered the public by possessing a loaded firearm to protect the proceeds of the trafficking. The FBI and our partners will continue to hold each of these conspirators, and others like them, responsible for the damage they do to our communities.”

The @FBI and our partners are seeing malicious cyber activity targeting industrial refrigeration and cold-chain monitoring systems around the world. These systems help keep food, medicine, and other products at safe temperatures and are widely used across critical infrastructure sectors.
Attackers are targeting electronic temperature and refrigeration controllers, particularly in grocery stores and cold storage facilities. In at least one recent incident, attackers targeted refrigeration components at three foreign blood service facilities.
While this attack was unsuccessful due to the proper alert mechanisms in place, security weaknesses in unpatched or internet-accessible controllers can allow attackers to change system settings, potentially causing inventory loss and equipment damage.
The FBI urges organizations using these systems to take the following steps:
➡️ Take controllers off the public internet
➡️ Put access behind a firewall
➡️ Change default passwords
➡️ Learn how vendors configure devices
➡️ Set safe temperature limits
➡️ Ensure alerts reach the right contacts
For technical details and more information on how to protect these systems, read our advisory: ic3.gov/CSA/2026/261105.pdf
