Actually, that is not the truth... the issue is of adding referencing to the adverts not of the science. A lot of science is based on modelling including Government studies on smoking.

This tweet is misleading... a lot of science is based on modelling including Government studies on smoking. The issue here is referencing not a question of the science
The majority of scientific studies are based on modelling - including Government ones on obesity and smoking

I think it is important to note this is not disputing the science at all, it's about sloppy referencing and the ads could run again. "We told TfL to ensure that the basis of all environmental claims was made clear in future ads." #ULEZ

1) Most petrol cars registered after January 2006 meet ULEZ standards, so cars can be 17 years old + ULEZ compliant.
2) Every Londoner with a non compliant car can get up to £2k to scrap it.
3) The lowest income Londoners don't own cars, but will benefit most from cleaner air.

Do they think scientists work for free?
If no academic science involvement, I'm sure they'd have moaned about that instead

Did the government back ULEZ? A 2020 letter from Grant Shapps shows the government wanted even bigger changes, including extending the congestion charge to the North & South circular.

The ULEZ is expanding across all London boroughs from 29 August 2023
🚚 Cars, motorcycles, vans and specialist vehicles (up to and including 3.5 tonnes) and minibuses (up to and including 5 tonnes) need to meet the ULEZ emissions standards to drive within the zone.
🚙 9 out of 10 cars seen driving in outer London on an average day already meet the ULEZ standards, so their drivers will not need to pay.
