The strike in the Bir Basha area of 🇾🇪 Taiz appears to have targeted a structure belonging to the Bir Basha sponge factory, confirming local reporting that said the same, with no signs of military activity observed in nearby structures, contrary to claims that the facility was an arms depot or similar.
The presence of a residential building and an annex helped identify the structure as the Bir Basha sponge factory, while several other factors further cemented it as the correct location, including a visible tree clump that matches the foliage surrounding the factory as seen from satellite imagery.
Despite it being work hours, no casualties resulted from the strike, with the manufacturing facility being empty of workers and personnel at the time of the strike. No statement has been released by the Houthis regarding this subject matter.
A civilian factory in the Bir Basha area of 🇾🇪 Taiz is currently on fire following artillery strikes, conducted by the Houthis in the area. According to residents, the site has suffered extensive structural and superfiical damage, with the resulting smoke plume visible from numerous areas of the city.
The strike follows a series of airstrikes conducted by the 🇾🇪 Yemeni Armed Forces and the 🇸🇦 Royal Saudi Air Force on equipment and personnel belonging to the Houthis during an earlier offensive around the Old Airport and Mount Han areas of the city. Those airstrikes reportedly resulted in the loss of several tanks, equipment, and personnel for the Houthis.
No casualties have been reported as a result of the artillery strikes on the sponge factory in Bir Basha, though this is subject to change as emergency services continue to work at the scene.
