This is the result of them being unchallenged in their entitled lawlessness by anyone in authority for many years
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.

You are talking to a group of people who ignore red traffic lights, so your sign is beyond them, even noticing. Cyclists are the biggest danger to Londoners walking the streets of London.
Planning to cycle through the West End? 🚲
Cycling is no longer permitted on the traffic-free section of Oxford Street between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. We will maintain an active presence of enforcement officers.
You can continue your journey using the surrounding highway network and choose an alternative route from the nearby streets that remain open.
Plan your journey using our London cycling map to find accessible cycle routes, as well as Santander Cycles docking stations: tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/

More and more people across the UK are being impacted by floating bus stops. It’s so unjust that fit young people are being prioritised over blind people. And the cycle fanatics lie about road safety to cover themselves.
Sheila’s petition is over 1000 signatures (online & paper) to stop the floating bus stops in Colchester. Sheila wants urgent help @andyburnham & @Essex_CC to halt the works please & would like to thank everyone for their support for her petition change.org/p/stop-the-floati….

So, roughly the same number of people, just without the cars so a few can prance about in the road? 😂 Meanwhile, the surrounding roads are getting clogged up with traffic, as reported on the traffic updates. Some transformation. 🤡

The only defence of floating bus stops and excluding blind people from their buses that the @MayorofLondon has, is that cyclists shouldn’t break the law. But the data shows there is almost zero enforcement! thetimes.com/uk/transport/ar… @laurencesleator

A modest request to HM Government: if we have to have an 'active travel commissioner' can we please make it a pedestrian next time, rather than an Olympic cyclist? In the past five years the number of fines issued by police forces to cyclists fell from 6,000 to 3,660.
Some police forces last year failed to fine a single cyclist, while just ten were fined in the whole of Devon and Cornwall. But even this, apparently, is still too much for Chris Boardman, the current holder of the above post and a former gold medallist on his bike.
While acknowledging that cyclists ought to stop at red lights, he adds, in a letter to the Times, 'We need to distinguish between behaviour that irritates us and behaviour that puts lives at greatest risk.
Someone on a bike and someone driving a two tonne vehicle do not pose the same potential risk. That does not excuse either breaking the law, but it should inform where we put our limited enforcement resources.'

Day one of Sadiq Khan’s Oxford Street pedestrianisation: empty pavements, roadwork barriers, security guards and cyclists riding on the pavement.
This is the grand transformation London was promised? Or another vanity project being sold as progress? 👏

Who would have guessed, cyclists ignore pedestrianisation of Oxford Street
Could they face penalty? Unlikely, given that they rarely do elsewhere!
