This is what our President who is blind said about the bus stop design where you step off the bus onto a narrow bus boarder next to a cycle lane on Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest ‘Not fit for purpose. It really is totally inaccessible. These sorts of designs should be scrapped’

@russellquirk Floating Bus Stops are dangerous for pedestrians. Especially for the blind and visibly impaired members of the public. You really need to look at this again please 🙏. @Iromg

.@Channel4News the PM @andyburnham @10DowningStreet turned down our invitation to mark International White Cane Safety Day 12/10/26 where many people travelled from across the county to explain their concerns over floating bus stops. Appearing on goggle box was more important 😢.

.@andyburnham @10DowningStreet Words fail. We asked you to meet people affected by floating bus stops but you were too busy. If you were not so busy doing goggle box you could have met them including Sheila from Colchester fighting to protect her bus stops m.youtube.com/watch?v=CzLf8l…

Like to thank @JohnLThornton for coming up with this design for bus stops in cycle lanes…
Floating bus stops make disabled people cross a cycle lane just to catch a bus. There is a safer way: The Bike Aware Bus Stop. Passengers stay on the pavement. Cyclists keep a level, steady lane. Read the report: boldlytogo.blogspot.com/2026… #FloatingBusStops #Accessibility

This is clearly a superior design to floating bus stops, instead of asking cyclists to stop every time a pedestrian wishes to access or exit the bus stop, they are only asked to stop when the bus arrives or exits the stop. It also reflects the hierarchy of road users putting pedestrians first.

Pensioner calls out ‘watch me’ as e-bike rider jumps red light at speed directly infront of her at St Thomas’s Hospital in London. One of many people riding bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters & cargo bikes in this manner. This is terrifying, dangerous & illegal.

Walking around Birmingham city centre is a horrible experience because of this. I even had one idiot ride towards me doing a wheelie then swerving at the last second.

Like to share @InclusiveBuild message to @andyburnham @10DowningStreet to halt floating bus stops @Heidi_Labour @Mather_Keir @justinmadders @simonlightwood @stephenctimms @LordBlunkett @Nigel_Farage. Simon is a wheelchair user & we were very grateful to him being part of the team
.@InclusiveBuild message to @andyburnham @10DowningStreet during our mass petition to halt floating bus stops ‘I want a built environment that works for all, this includes bus stops. BS8300-1 gives guidance that pedestrians should not have to cross cycle lane to access bus stops’

Let me remind you of Lord Hendy of Richmonds words in @UKHouseofLords on this issue. Why are shared use bus boarders still being built in Colchester? @andyburnham why are you not helping? Did you read our petitions handed into @10DowningStreet last week? youtube.com/watch?v=uYi31Ham…

Take note@haringeycouncil @HaringeyGreens @HaringeyLabour @HaringeyLibDems @CllrSeema we don’t want this on Ferry lane no place in Haringey for floating bus stops
.@andyburnham why are you not helping Sheila? Why are cycle routes being built through & on the pavement down hill next to a doctors surgery. Why are designs that are paused by @Heidi_Labour DfT still being built? youtu.be/CzLf8lqgB_w @laurencesleator @benclatworthy @thetimes
