Only 56% of people understand that most scientists agree the globe is warming. In actuality virtually every scientist believes the climate is warming. Even most climate deniers understand that simple fact. Deniers just aren’t willing to admit humans are the cause. They are wrong.
According to a new survey by @YaleClimateComm, a majority of people in 17 US states don't believe there's scientific consensus that climate change is happening.

“Banks use your deposits to make loans to carbon-intensive industries. $1,000 in your account creates emissions equal to a flight from NYC to Seattle.” This is wild, and it shows the @billmckibben was right: divestment matters. Read more: wired.com/story/your-money-i…

We should all be furious that as a summer of climate fueled event wreaks havok on our planet more isn't being done to stem the tide.
Record heatwaves, record floods, record droughts, record wildfires. How many more records before we #ActOnClimate?

Phasing out fossil fuels is a bare minimum. We need drastic immediate emission cuts and binding commitments from the largest contributors of the climate crisis to finance loss and damages, adaptation and a just transition in the most affected areas.

3️⃣ PUBLIC OWNERSHIP
Nationalising corporations like @TotalEnergies could transform them into public interest organisations.
They'd be free from the pressures of financial markets.
Decisions could be made with people, rather than profit, at heart.

This will be hugely impactful in TX, which leads the U.S. in production and lacks state standards to prevent climate warming methane emissions.
