I've been travelling by bus at least once or twice a week recently and have found it to be a pleasant experience.
But we need more buses, more routes! There are many like me who hate driving in the city, find parking a nightmare and will happily switch to a bus if it's convenient.

It is quite apparent to us that the #BBPPRoad has really little to do with traffic solutions - see the congestion that will be created at the junctions with SBRoad and Paud road!
So what is the real solution for traffic? One that will meet the commuting needs of Punekars. That lies in Buses, strengthening @PMPMLPune! Instead, over the past 20 years, we find PMPML ridership falling — with fewer buses and unreliable service pushing more people toward private vehicles.
Real traffic solutions start with better PMPML service, not more concrete. Listen in to @rgadgi @parisarpune on this.

The PMC EIA Report Conclusion turned Forest Trees into Rocky Outcrop and Sparse Vegetation
The proposed BBPP Road can only be made after an Environmental Clearance, mandated now by the Supreme Court.
But STAY ALERT!
A small reminder of how the PMC EIA misled the analysis from its own expert study in 2019 - a small reminder to always read the fine print and match it with your eyes on the ground!
The PMC EIA consultant main report talks of rocky outcrop and sparse vegetation – not forest.
BUT look at the Land Use analysis in the same Report’s Annexure that looks at tree density –
The same zone that the Main Report are marked as sparse vegetation is actually marked as Forest taking up 33% of the alignment. AND there is an additional 30% of Vegetation marked.
In fact, the dense tree cover has only increased since 2019! We continue with our campaign towards a sustainable traffic solution - improve @PMPMLPune.
Give buses a chance, give commuters safe, frequent services during rush hours - so people have a credible reliable option to switch away from their personal vehicles.
Instead of the current focus where PMC is constantly chasing road projects on Vetal Tekdi. These will not only destroy the tekdi ecosystem, they will create bottlenecks for traffic at the junctions with SB Road and Paud Road.
Say NO to BBPP Road, Say NO to HCMTR on the tekdi - ask for more buses especially on Senapati Bapat road.
Get all political parties to choose the right solution for #Pune, and we should vote wisely, ride comfortably.

शाश्वत वाहतूक दिना निमित्त, "Walk Bus Cycle and Metro" (चालत, बस, सायकल अन् मेट्रो) ह्या उपक्रमा अंतर्गत; पुणे नॉलेज क्लस्टर, सेव्ह पुणे ट्राफिक मूव्हमेंट आणि सेंटर फॉर एन्व्हायर्नमेंट एज्युकेशन ह्या तीन संस्थांतर्फे, कोथरूड येथे, “जनसंवाद” कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. या वेळी महामेट्रोचे व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक श्री. श्रावण हर्डीकर (भा.प्रा.से.) आणि पुणे महानगरपालिकेचे आयुक्त श्री. नवल किशोर राम यांनी उपस्थित नागरिकांशी संवाद साधला. यावेळी पुणे मेट्रोच्या प्रकल्पांची माहिती देत श्री. श्रावण हर्डीकर यांनी नागरिकांशी संवाद साधला. याप्रसंगी पुणे मेट्रोचे अधिकारी, कर्मचारी, स्थानिक नागरिक, पत्रकार, उपस्थित होते.

Mr. Shravan Hardikar (I.A.S.), Managing Director, MahaMetro and Shri Naval Kishore Ram (I.A.S.), Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation, interacted with the citizens. Mr. Shravan Hardikar shared insights on upcoming Pune Metro projects.

Pune's approved Comprehensive Mobility Plan had a target of 55 buses/ lakh population. That's a Government benchmark.
#Pune had 30 buses for a lakh population in 2010- Forget about increasing that number, we have actually slipped to 24!
Had @PMCPune really started strengthening the bus and @PMPMLPune service, even they would not need to be talking about spending Rs 300+crores on the 2.1km BBPP Road that will create a traffic bottleneck at its junctions with SB Road and Paud Road...

Isn't this coming from our tax money? How does it become a gift? Also, I believe a similar promise was made a year ago, never fulfilled.
1k buses are nowhere near enough for Pune. As per the CMP Pune has a shortfall of 6k buses. Ideally we need 50 buses/lakh people.

पंतप्रधान मा.श्री. नरेंद्रजी मोदी यांच्या नेतृत्वातील केंद्र सरकारकडून पुणेकरांसाठी मोठी आणि ऐतिहासिक भेट प्राप्त झाली असून पीएम ई-ड्राईव्ह योजनेअंतर्गत पुणे महानगर परिवहन महामंडळाला (PMPML) तब्बल १००० नव्या इलेक्ट्रिक बस मिळण्यास मंजुरी देण्यात आली आहे. केंद्रीय अवजड उद्योग मंत्री मा.श्री. एच.डी. कुमारस्वामी यांनी या प्रस्तावावर अंतिम शिक्कामोर्तब केले असून, लवकरच या बस पीएमपीएमएलच्या ताफ्यात दाखल व्हायला सुरुवात होईल.
या निर्णयामुळे पुणे आणि पिंपरी-चिंचवडमधील सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्था अधिक सक्षम, आधुनिक आणि पर्यावरणपूरक होणार आहे. यामुळे वाहतूक कोंडी कमी होईल, कार्बन उत्सर्जन घटेल आणि नागरिकांना अधिक कार्यक्षम, आरामदायी प्रवासाची सुविधा मिळेल.
यासाठी आपण गेल्या काही महिन्यांपासून सातत्याने प्रयत्नशील होतो. महाराष्ट्र सरकार आणि केंद्र सरकारदरम्यान समन्वय साधत, मुख्यमंत्री मा.श्री. देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस यांची भेट घेऊन आवश्यक प्रशासकीय प्रक्रिया गतीमान करण्याचे काम केले. राज्य सरकारकडून रिझर्व्ह बँकेला आवश्यक पत्र पाठविल्यानंतर पीएमपीएमएलचा प्रस्ताव केंद्रीय अवजड उद्योग मंत्रालयाकडे पाठविण्यात आला होता. नवी दिल्ली येथे एच. डी. कुमारस्वामी यांच्यासोबत झालेल्या भेटीनंतर त्यांनी तत्काळ या प्रस्तावाला मंजुरी देण्याचे आश्वासन दिले होते, आणि आज त्या प्रयत्नांना यश आले आहे.
पुणे शहराची सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्था भक्कम करण्याचा आमचा निर्धार आहे. सध्या ३२ किलोमीटरवर मेट्रो धावत आहे आणि शिवाजीनगर-हिंजवडी मेट्रो लवकरच सुरू होणार आहे. मेट्रोचे विस्तारित मार्ग, नव्या बस सेवा आणि ई-वाहतूक यांचा संगम साधून आम्ही “स्मार्ट, ग्रीन आणि सस्टेनेबल पुणे” घडविण्याच्या दिशेने काम करत आहोत. पीएमपीएमएलच्या ताफ्यात अधिकाधिक बस समाविष्ट करून वाहतूक व्यवस्थेचा कणा अधिक मजबूत करणे हे आमचे प्राधान्य राहील.
पुणे आणि पिंपरी चिंचवड शहरासाठी १००० ई-बस मंजूर केल्याबद्दल मी पंतप्रधान मा. नरेंद्र मोदी यांचे मनःपूर्वक आभार मानतो. तसेच या प्रयत्नाला पाठिंबा आणि सहकार्य दिल्याबद्दल केंद्रीय मंत्री मा. एच. डी. कुमारस्वामी आणि मुख्यमंत्री मा. देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांचेही मनःपूर्वक आभार !
