Was such a treat to spend time at @FoodFriendship today, serving food to guests and chatting.
And where better to watch the historic events of today unfold than with the residents who are most affected by choices made in Downing Street. – at Hove, England
@HoveMethodists Thanks all & @peterkyle & @chrishenryman for helping today with serving, the raffle & chatting with the guests. What timing for their visit - we watched the news live! We are having a break next week but are back on Tuesday 1st November- see you then! #Community

Off for some lunch. We've still got a few loaves, bagels and cinnamon buns left for this afternoon though. Why not swing by on the way to pick up the kids from school and grab something deliciously bready.

#throwbackthursday 🙌🏻 Remembering when we could come together in a group to honour older people in our community and identify their wants and needs. Although research and #befriending is now phone based, opportunities for human connection are still key to #overcomingloneliness

Today is #WorldFoodDay2020! Take a look at the amazing work of @FoodFriendship throughout the pandemic to ensure isolated people in Hove and Portslade have access to food! The group received funding from our Sussex Crisis Fund earlier this year.

Telephone befriending is proving to be a great experience for volunteers and scheme members alike.
Just 30-45 minutes per week could make a genuine difference to someone who feels lonely most of the time.
Could you help by signing up today or by sharing this post? 👍🏻

"Loneliness is prolific in Brighton and Hove. Poverty compounds loneliness, people tell me I'm lost.' Huge thanks to Mel for her insightful thread about her work as a #linkworker. #socialprescribing #LonelinessAwarenessWeek @marmaladetrust @JoCoxLoneliness @EndLonelinessUK 👇
To mark #LonelinessAwarenessWeek, our colleague Mel, is popping onto twitter to share some insight into her role as a #LinkWorker. Mel's work helps people faced with a variety of challenges, to find the people and places that can help them feel healthier and happier. Thread 👇👋

We are getting busier each week as part of the emergency food response in Brighton. We need a second large refrigerated van as we need to go east & west to farms to pick up produce. We don’t have funds to hire a 2nd van tho. Can you help? Or do you know someone who can? Pls RT

Pls help! @realjunkfoodBri say: "Fresh produce is something we are struggling to find. With many more people needing to be fed our cafes are finding less surplus food making its way to them. If you know anyone who can get fresh fruit and veg to us it would be so appreciated 🙏"
