The argument that Paul invented Jesus' divine status is considerably weaker than the argument that Jesus himself provided the foundations upon which high Christology emerged.

This and Myrna Nazzour!!! The Middle East has two of the biggest 20th century Marian Apparitions that make one go .. what , what?!
The Zeitoun apparitions are genuinely fascinating. From 1968 to 1971, crowds of Muslims and Christians reported witnessing luminous phenomena above a Cairo church, interpreted as the Virgin Mary. No proposed naturalistic explanation has satisfactorily accounted for the reports.

Definitely anti African xenophobia mixed into it. The kid moved to the States only a year ago with his family, and from all I’ve heard he was quiet and on his phone. Lot of anti African xenophobia in urban American schools.

Ermm David committed adultery with a married woman and organised so that her husband, Uriah the Hittite, alongside others of his soldiers got killed in a meat wave attack. (2 Samuel 11-12)
This is three verses after we learn he had 700 wives and 300 concubines btw: So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.

I do genuinely like that in the Bible the prophets are fallen men and women just like us, but God works through them. God working through a reality full of privation and sin is the beauty of it all.

Debating and getting challenged by good athiest skeptics are greater foundations for building a coherent faith over text mining people from other faith traditions. Using propositional logic especially.

One that got me is that if you even grant a supernatural phenomenon, you have to justify how that proves aseity over that being a powerful or created being itself. There is really no fundamental way to prove aseity of a being.

No Abrahamic theist should use this argument to skeptics. “Because God can do whatever he see’s fitting”(paraphrasing) is not a good argument. God could thus lie, or deceive and then at what point do you even trust God or believe anything this entity tries to say.
I sympathise with those that harbour this theological doubt, especially since the common responses to it that attempt to “vindicate” Allah from apparent injustice are all horrid. The only compelling explanation is this:

You need to employ some form of eschatology, and or divine providence. E.g physical life is finite compared to the infinite you will experience. Another one is this is all providential to set in motions for teleological purposes that will generate a ultimate greater good.

However the familiar objection: an omnipotent being could presumably achieve the same teleological ends with less (or no) suffering. You can posit, God can’t form logical contradictions, the teleology may require relational or submitting created agents that suffer to do this

Prayers for the Christians in Jordan. Middle Eastern Christians are always punched down by all sides, they’re used as tokens by the West on all sides of the political spectrum. Meanwhile they are abused, oppressed and further tokenised in their own native lands.

I’ve been reading into miracles in way more detail since Joe Schmid’s conversion. If you grant Jesus resurrection, you cannot logically not grant 20th and 21st century miracles that cluster extremely around the Catholic faith tradition. Especially the Lourdes miracles.

If that’s the case and you’re granting a theistic Godhead, kinda crazy he is going out of his way to vindicate a specific tradition. At the very least vindicating Apostolic Christianity (Zeitoun) , whilst other faiths have near nothing in comparison to said modern miracle data.

9 books I’ll never forget. I could have put more biographical books, but I wanted a bit of diversity.

Tbh Rotten Romans (Horrible Histories )is number one. If I hadn’t read that book as a kid and gained the utter fascination with history, I may have not read a lot of the others on this list.

If the Sri Lankan man was European or American , with white skin, trust me, he would not be facing the death penalty.

Monism is correct btw, the universe is intelligible and derivate rational agents with subjective experience (us) can understand it relative to their physical capacity to do so. Reality is rationally grounded. Cumulative miracle cases show that this ground could be agentive.
Been reading cosmopsychism . After dissociating, and meditating , I have come to accept we are individual nodes in one mind. Hence our minds mapping (at a level) to the intelligibility of this universe. Foundational reality is a mind.

I have come to this conclusion myself.

Of course, as I will argue in Jesus Monotheism volumes 2-4, and as an increasing number of scholars are now seeing, Hurtado was quite wrong on this point. The best explanation for the divine Christology of the New Testament texts includes Jesus’ own divine self-understanding and claims.

Paul Foster(2008) presents how the “Q Gospel” builds a two stage Son of man Christology. Where how Jesus is treated and followed in his earthly ministry influences when he returns as an eschatological judge known by John the Baptist as “the coming one”
