Brazil is to be renamed Bramerica after Lula is brought to the US to face a trial for sponsoring fishing boats. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
BREAKING: In an unprecedented comeback, Brazil's President Lula da Silva has defeated Flavio Bolsonaro, securing a 4th term in office.
Lula is officially the first presidential candidate in Brazil's modern democratic history to lose the first round of voting and go on to win the runoff.
Prior to the election, Lula's implied odds of victory had fallen as low as 10%.
This marks one of the most remarkable political comebacks in Brazil's history.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a vocal critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, was reelected Sunday.
His opponent Flávio Bolsonaro refused to concede defeat and asked for the election results to be annulled due to a last-minute decision extended voting by two hours.
Anyone in official #Denmark wants to say anything definitive?

The US has encouraged Orbán to enter the race, even bringing him the initial idea of a joint U.S.-Russia-China candidacy.

Fundamentally, the Far Right today is largely the Far Left and vice versa. Neither is capable of any fiscal discipline, and both operate on "Let's find some scapegoats to blame for market/government/cultural/social failures".
For all the hand wringing about the ‘far right’, it turns out the far left is a real danger to society. This week’s @Independent_ie column

Congratulations, MAGA. Your hero just told you 'they' are making money off your misery. A 'freaking fortune'.

Trump: My uncle invented radar. Can you believe it? He’ll probably be angry that I took out Iran’s radar.

Trump's uncle John G. Trump contributed to WWII radar development and deployment at MIT's Rad Lab but did not invent it. Radar originated earlier via work by scientists including Heinrich Hertz, Christian Hülsmeyer and Robert Watson-Watt.

One of the world’s largest private equity firms just issued a report concluding: “Despite massive investments and widespread hype around artificial intelligence, the technology has delivered zero financial payoff to corporate America outside of tech.”
But there is a corruption tzar now, no?
“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet.
Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed.
