Getting through my 20s without a kid showed me that not having one wasn't getting me no closer to my dreams, just an excuse to bullshit even more and slow down my rate of structure and maturity. Mentality everything though, if you a lazy person you not getting nowhere regardless
You need a balance, no one wanna be at a place where everything strict af, they kids. They gone understand why structure needed to get what they want in general once you lay it out in a good manner. No kid understands structure until they grow up, sound like he just hate the BM
He’s basically saying the structured, strict dad ends up being the villain while the “do whatever you want” house is the one the kids actually like going to. And he’s got kids outside the marriage, so he’s only getting them part-time and trying to enforce rules in that limited window.
You can hear the frustration. He checks phones, sets bedtimes, won’t let them run wild, and then the kids treat him like he’s the problem. The daughter only hitting him up for money part is especially rough and him telling the mom she’s teaching her to use men is the kind of conversation that almost never goes well.
A lot of dads in split situations end up in this exact spot: they try to be the parent with standards and end up looking like the bad guy to the kids who prefer the freer house. Whether “just cut them loose” is the right call is another thing, but the feeling he’s describing is pretty common.
I ain't start watching ball until I was about 12
Derrick Rose says he barely watched Michael Jordan’s championship runs growing up in Chicago because he was too busy playing basketball himself, and even when his brothers called him inside, he was still looking out the window at the kids playing
D-Rose: “I ain't watched none of Mike's games when they was winning championships. I'm outside. My brothers tell me to come back in when they about to celebrate. ‘Hey, the game gonna end. Come back in.’”
Tony Allen: “Time out, time out, wait, rewind. You ain't watched no Bulls game?”
D-Rose: “The game is they about to win the champ. ‘Hey, go get Pooh. The game about to end. He can't be out.’ All right, they in. I'm looking through the window. I'm watching my brothers outside running around in the street…”
“Man, they watch Jordan. Damn, my mama give me a shirt with the newspaper thing on it. I'm like, ‘All right.’ I don’t want none of that.”
KAT, Brunson, OG scoring everynight and you still concerned about Bridges offense? The man is there for defense and the playoffs, we don't need him to do nothing else with Shamet coming off the bench on a heater already

She’s basically telling men that answering disrespect with more patience and understanding just teaches her there’s no real cost.
If she can be nice to strangers and her boss but talks crazy to you, she already knows how to control herself, she just doesn’t think she has to with you. And behavior follows whatever you keep allowing.
Name it once, no big speech. If the pattern keeps going, stop negotiating. Distance is still a boundary. You can care about someone and still refuse to keep eating the same treatment.
