I think when we fall back to Standard Time tomorrow morning, we should keep it that way.
Itโs healthier for our circadian rhythm. And safer for kids going to school and adults going to work in the morning.
Plus, Iโm a morning person who tends to go to bed early. I like it when it starts getting daylight earlier.

Bamboo sheets are sold as the gentle alternative to cotton and silk, and the fabric they are made of is the one that put factory workers in asylums.
Bamboo cloth is not bamboo. It is viscose. The plant is pulped, dissolved in caustic soda and carbon disulphide, and squirted through a nozzle into acid, where it sets into a thread. It was patented in England in 1892 as artificial silk, and the trade name for it was rayon. The same process makes a kitchen sponge and the cellophane on a bunch of flowers.
Carbon disulphide was already notorious. French doctors in the 1850s had watched it send rubber workers blind, impotent and insane. The viscose industry needed it in enormous quantities and nothing else would do.
So from the 1920s the asylums began to fill. In 1933 a doctor at a Pennsylvania rayon plant wired Alice Hamilton, the first woman on the Harvard faculty and the country's authority on industrial poisons, with a 6-word message: an epidemic of insanity has broken out. Workers were going home and attacking their wives. Men in the churn rooms were found wandering the roads. Investigators who got inside found a third of the workforce showing signs of poisoning.
The companies fixed prices, sat on the evidence, and when the regulators finally came for them in the West they moved the factories to India, China and Indonesia, where the same chemical is used today. The consumer was never harmed. Only the people who made the cloth.
Silk is made by a caterpillar in a mulberry tree. Wool is made by a sheep in a field. Both are a protein, same as your own hair, and both have been pulled off the animal for 5,000 years without sending anybody out of his mind.
The fake silk needed a chemical that could not be made safe, and the industry's answer was to make it somewhere else.

The Senate shouldnโt recess until it has removed John Thune, passed the SAVE America Act, and defunded the Taliban.

Campaigner: goats are terrible for the environment.
Farmer: this one clears scrub nobody else will touch.
Campaigner: it still emits methane.
Farmer: from eating bramble and thistle off ground you cannot farm.
Campaigner: you could plant trees there.
Farmer: the goat is why the trees have a chance. It clears the choke first.
Campaigner: goats cause deserts. Everyone knows that.
Farmer: overgrazing causes deserts. So does ploughing. So does concrete.
Campaigner: well, we should eat plants instead.
Farmer: the goat is the reason half the world's poor get any protein at all.
Campaigner: those people should have better options.
Farmer: the goat is the better option. It survives where the crops fail.
Campaigner: it is still an animal being exploited.
Farmer: it is an animal being fed, housed, and kept alive on land that grows nothing you can eat.
Campaigner: I just think there is a kinder way.
Farmer: name one that feeds a family off a rocky hillside in a drought.
Campaigner: ...
Farmer: the goat has been doing it for ten thousand years. It is not waiting for your review.

The Founding Fathers wanted a Government run by the people. You were to leave the private sector, serve in Congress and then return to being a citizen. Staying in the House or Senate for 50 years is not how it's supposed to work. This needs to be fixed!

There is a city in Ireland that has a festival where they capture a wild goat, crown it King, party for 3 days in its honor, and then free the goat.

I want to see new companies start up
Make analog pickup trucks without computers. Carburetor engines & standard equipment. No vehicle costing over $20k
And analog mechanical washer & dryer sets
Basic items like they made back in the 1980s that work & last 30+ years
Return

Thereโs blood in our language now. Rage in every post. Even warriors tear each other apartโnot with rifles, but with words.
But Desmond Doss didnโt care who you voted for when he dragged your body off Hacksaw ridge, bleeding and screaming, under fire.
At Omaha Beach, no one asked about party lines.
In Fallujah, no one checked your worldview before pulling you into cover.
In the Ardennes, in the rice paddies, in the black mountains of Afghanistanโno man fought for politics.
They fought for the man next to them.
For the ones they loved back home.
For a country that promised more than this.
Republican. Democrat. Black. White. Christian. Atheist. All colors and creeds.
None of it mattered when the sky fell and the air turned red.
They were Americans. That was enough.
It must be enough againโlest the great American experiment was all in vain.
We are not each otherโs enemy. Or we never were supposed to be anyway.
Remember who we are.
Or watch everything our heroes died for burn.
Alas, it may be too late. I pray that isn't the case.
