Y'all will do anything except teach your sons not to rape 😂
Here’s some legal advice for anyone with sons: very strongly advise them not to engage in frivolous casual sex. In fact, tell them not even to have sex until they’re married and not with anyone but their legal spouse.
To do otherwise is to potentially expose them to legal liability that could result in long periods of incarceration.
For those of you who think this is absurd. What’s absurd is this is the reality today. You cannot prosecute cases where the allegations are decades old (ie Russel Brand, Danny Masterson, Tate Brothers etc). You are more likely to come to an unjust result than a just one. Yet this is what is being done in the US and England right now. Also, coincidentally, being done to those with prominent dissenting voices. Some would say it’s an excuse to silence critics.
Astonishing that this needs to be reiterated, this is something the Greeks and Romans realized hundreds of years ago, yet we seem to have conveniently (for some) forgotten.

The most credible evidence against Brand comes from a woman named Nadia, who said she was raped by him in LA in 2012. She went immediately to a rape centre afterwards & there are medical records which corroborate her account. She also spent 5 months in counselling after the incident (which there are records of) and contemporaneous text messages from Brand in which he says he was "sorry."
The below accusation, from a woman in Britain, which led to a conviction didn't have the physical evidence. But there were 2 dozen witnesses who corroborated her story, & similarly there were contemporaneous text messages from Brand apologising for what he did.

We don't know how many men need to hear this, but just because a woman agrees to have sex with a man, it doesn't mean he gets to to do whatever else he wants to do to her.
You said: "But I do wrestle with the fact that some of these allegations date back 20-25 years. I can't help but question why some of these women waited so long to come forward."

Hi. Please work on your reading comprehension. Maybe then you'll understand that my very measured post, in which I ask some very valid and important questions, doesn't automatically translate into me somehow believing that rape has an expiry date.
Hope that helps.

I don't want to shame any particular woman here, but publicly announcing that the #RussellBrand conviction must be wrong because you went home with him and he didn't rape you makes about as much sense as saying 'well, I left 25 Cromwell Street alive, so Fred West's innocent.'
Men: It's not official unless the man is convicted of rape!
Also men: Yes he was convicted of rape, but it still doesn't count as official.
Men are protectors... of other men.
What are your thoughts on Russell Brand being found guilty of rape and sexual assault?
I'm firmly of the belief that if the evidence was substantial enough to prove his guilt, then he deserves to do the time for it.
But I do wrestle with the fact that some of these allegations date back 20-25 years.
I can't help but question why some of these women waited so long to come forward. Yes, I appreciate that fear and trauma can absolutely prevent someone from speaking out. But part of me wonders whether some knew exactly what they were getting involved in at the time, only to look back on it very differently years later.
At the same time, it's equally difficult to believe that Brand didn't abuse his position, his fame and the influence he had over women.
I think about how he conducted himself back then. The things he said, the things he openly admitted to doing, his attitude towards women in general.
None of that, on its own, proves he committed rape, obviously, but it hardly paints a picture of someone who was completely innocent of any wrongdoing either.
I'm genuinely interested in hearing what people think, regardless of whether they like or dislike Russell Brand.

Not a single one of her male co-workers stepped in to defend her, but they all jumped to pull her off of him when they realized she was going to kick his ass. This isn’t uncommon: plenty of men will watch complacently as a woman gets pushed around, but the second they see a woman winning, they suddenly feel the need to stop the fight.
