It was lovely to talk at
@BSMSMedSchool's 'time for Autism' event yesterday. It's humbling to see how many medics are working to improve outcomes and education through tacit experiences. Plus a nice excuse to doodle on my brain!
In other news, Trump nominates Netanyahu for an Oscar for his role "genocidal manic" in the Israeli national production of "They started it!", from the makers of 'genital mutilation for babies' and their sold out "whoops we killed your messiah, but he was a very naughty boy".
At the University of Sussex today with LEAP (lived experiences of autism panel) :) Probably my favourite campus.... sorry Brighton!

I’m sure that all the children whose school lives are blighted by disruption, bullying, violence and abuse will be comforted to know that somewhere, an academic has commissioned a knitted blanket in support of the ones disrupting, bullying, being violent and abusive.
Watching @JeremyClarkson's pig episode S3Ep4 "harrowing"..... bloody hell.... I mean seriously that was one of the hardest things I've ever watched, actually made me break out in an anxious sweat. I'll never look at a sausage again quite the same way
100%, especially when teachers have identities that "don't align with our families beliefs" 🙄 ...
Teachers should be free to refuse service, just like any other worker.
Just been messaged from a Scottish teacher who was attacked with a weapon in the classroom, and the student wasn’t suspended, and is still in the same school as the teacher, who now lives in fear of a second assault. Tell me again that the Scottish Ed system doesn’t need its approach to behaviour rebooted.
No teacher should dread being assaulted as an expectation of the job. Schools need to support their staff. To do so, political leaders need to get serious about behaviour. Drop the obsession with no-exclusions. It’s ruining the education of countless thousands. Invest in alternative provision.
Have you ever rubbed a chinchilla on your face? I'd highly recommend it, they smell like talc and are so soft!
Schools such as @AboynePrimary do and continue to exist, where complex need students are treated like this openly, imagine how complex need adults are treated in the closed workplace throughout the UK. I am appalled, but not surprised. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce5e…

There are a few bits in this article that worry me:
1. A student who has 'grabbed a teachers arm' (presumably forcefully) ends up listening to a teacher read a book to them for 10 minutes as the sanction?
2. Students say "Teachers can be your friend here"
Reasons they worry me:
Any form of assault needs absolutely strong and robust response (see my recent poll where 50%+ teachers said they'd been assaulted)
Teachers shouldn't be mates with the students - just my view. There's so many reasons I think this, too much to say here.

I'm a published author!!!!
My paper shows how a therapeutic thinking behaviour policy is discriminatory and potentially illegal.

Heard an interesting comment on teacher wellbeing this evening.
“You don’t realise you were so unwell until you feel better. Then you’re in shock at how you didn’t know at the time.”
It’s so sad that it’s probably so true.
