getty images spent years watermarking every photo on the internet.
sued stability AI for training on their library. demanded the AI companies pay up. called it theft.
filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy this week.
the AI companies didn't pay. they just... kept going and designers stopped buying stock photos. and the $500 licensing fees stopped making sense when midjourney exists. and the debt piled up.
a company whose entire business model was "we own the visual record of human history, pay us" just got outrun by a model that learned from that record and started giving it away for free.
The irony is that the watermark is still on every image in the archive.
even the ones nobody's licensing anymore.

The latest ad from the Irish Government to the Irish people, who are the font of all problems in the country and desperately need to be stopped from their bad behaviour.
This time, it's hugging your grandkids.
Voici le bilan de 10 ans de macronie. Le bouchon qui reste collé à la bouteille. Cela nous aura coûté 1300 milliards 😂😂😂

"What we call the economy is the result of millions of individuals making decisions based on their own unique, local and constantly changing knowledge.
"Prices, traditions and social norms emerge as a spontaneous order that no central authority can replicate. When governments try to impose top-down designs - whether through industrial policy, price controls, wealth redistribution or social engineering - they inevitably fail because they lack the dispersed knowledge that only free individuals possess.
"This insight explains why central planning has repeatedly produced poverty and authoritarianism, while free societies have generated unprecedented prosperity.
"The planner’s fatal error is believing that society is like a machine that can be engineered, when in reality it is a complex, evolving order far beyond any single mind’s comprehension."

The Bureau of Meteorology has been fiddling historical data to fit the narrative of global warming.
The BOM has 1800 staff.
Its budget is $614 million a year.
Its website rebuild cost $96 million.
But it has been exposed by two volunteer researchers.

That moment when Nancy Pelosi was flaunting a bracelet made from bullets used to kill Russians.
It was a gift from Ukrainian politician Oleksiy Goncharenko.
As if death itself were a fashion statement.
A grotesque display of moral decay, where slaughter is worn like jewelry and war is paraded as virtue....

It is a rare miracle in human history that Tokyo, a massive metropolis with a population of 30 million, is clean and safe throughout, with virtually no slums or dangerous districts.

Britain's national debt has just hit £3 TRILLION.
My generation is leaving our children and grandchildren an inheritance of debt and decline - we have spent their money before they have even earned it.
The time for yet more cowardice is over.
Brutal honesty is now required.
Difficult decisions lie ahead. There will be no painless solutions. Anyone promising otherwise is not being straight with the British public.
We are on the road to total economic collapse - it will be utterly catastrophic.
Deep spending cuts, fundamental reform of the state and a return to financial discipline are all absolutely necessary.
Every department must justify its spending. Every politician must confront the reality that we simply cannot afford everything. Every penny must go further.
The longer we delay, the more painful these decisions become.
Our children and our grandchildren are going to spend decades paying for our failures.
What a shameful legacy that is.

BREAKING: Here's the metadata for the dirt sheet Albanese shopped around against Australian MP Helen Haines in the weeks leading up to the far-left terror attack on her life.
Metadata says it was written in Word on an Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) system by the account "Lloyd, Joshua".
Joshua Lloyd is Deputy Director of Communications to the Prime Minister of Australia.
Great to know Josh spent 2 hours working on the document. Great use of my taxpayer money you bunch of fucking clowns. Thanks for toning down the temperature and uplifting the civility of our national body politic @AlboMP

This Calabrian farmer breaks down in tears: "I don't have the courage to tell my son to follow my path". He is not the only one. Across Italy, thousands of big, strong, hardworking men are crying. They don't even make it to the end of the month. They don't make it to the 15th. They work from dawn to dusk and can't feed their families. A catastrophic situation. "I don't care about political colors. I stand for decent people." This is the real Italy they are destroying. Listen to him.
Italy. A man sits on the ground, facing the police, weeping in despair. He no longer knows how to feed his children. He offers no resistance; he is pleading for help. This is not just the cry of a single truck driver or farmer—it is the cry of countless Italians. Between the cost of fuel, utility bills, and taxes, working is no longer enough to make a living. Italy is on the brink of total chaos.

Lieber Friedrich: Unternehmen brauchen Freiheit. Sonst entsteht hier überhaupt keine Technologie.
