More research about Jewish experiences with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies within the workplace has been released, this time by @PearnKandola, concerning Jews in the UK. The report illuminates how EDI not only prevents antisemitism from being addressed, but that EDI is facilitating the exclusion of Jewish employees. If this sounds familiar, it is because we reported a few months back about a study by Dr. Lilach Marom on the experiences of Jews with Canadian higher education institutions' EDI policies. It similarly concluded that the marginalization of Jews in this context was a feature of EDI, rather than merely a bug. Read the new report here: pearnkandola.com/resources/r…

On Oct. 27, 2018, 11 Jewish congregants were murdered during Shabbat services at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue. It remains the deadliest antisemitic attack in US history. We remember them, and reaffirm the importance of understanding, calling out, and confronting antisemitism, here in Canada and beyond.
On this day, 27th October 2018, the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh was attacked during Sabbath services. The attack left eleven worshippers dead and six injured. The perpetrator, Robert Bowers, driven by antisemitic beliefs, carried out the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history, shattering the sense of safety for the local Jewish community and beyond. In 2023, Robert Bowers was sentenced to death. The process of healing remains ongoing, and our thoughts remain with the victims of his horrific acts and their families.

Sometimes the facts, numbers, and statistics are not enough — especially when it comes to the world of social media. @nick_matau explained to @anastastia_zor that taking a step back and assessing the bigger narrative is sometimes the route one needs to take when it comes to online antisemitism. Canada is not the exception to this rule. The more people understand this process, the better they will understand the network at play when a claim or report on the Middle East is aired or published.
How does an unverified claim become an accepted fact? An NGO makes a claim. The media reports it. International institutions repeat it. And suddenly, the original claim carries a new level of credibility, often without anyone questioning its source. It's a cycle that can help perpetuate misleading narratives about Israel, with institutions lending undue legitimacy to each other. In the latest episode of In Conversation with Olga, @olga_deutsch sits down with @adamlevick of @CAMERA4truth to examine how NGO narratives influence mainstream media coverage of Israel.

Remember the human rights complaints filed earlier this month on behalf of a dozen Jewish educators in Ontario, against school boards and unions? More Jewish educators have since reached out to @Lawsome_ to express discomfort with the mandatory dues expected of them to their unions when, as Marshall claims, the money is being used to fund hate.

“I don’t buy into this whole, ‘you’re giving them a platform.’ For me, I think the only way to beat bad ideas is to have good ideas beat it out.” In last month’s HRCCO webinar hosted by @anastasia_zor, @nick_matau explains his approach to his renowned online debates — particularly when the person on the other side supports dangerous ideologies. Our factsheet, Canada And The Jewish Refugee Crisis, 1933–1945, has an accompanying infographic that provides a useful timeline for how Canada's immigration policy, and later response to the refugee crisis, developed in the 20th century. Check it out! hrccharitable.ca/infographic…
85 years ago this month, Nazi authorities began systematically deporting Jews from Germany, Austria, and Czech lands to ghettos, camps, and killing sites. As escape routes narrowed, Canada’s restrictive immigration policies and antisemitic attitudes shaped its response to Jewish refugees. Our new factsheet examines key moments from 1933 to 1945, including the Évian Conference, the MS St. Louis, and more. hrccharitable.ca/factsheets/…

Antisemitism in the workplace is exploding in Canada. In a new interview with @TheHubCanada , prominent employment lawyer Howard Levitt raises serious concerns about the growing prevalence of antisemitism in Canadian workplaces, describing cases of harassment, discrimination, and Jewish employees who fear the professional consequences of speaking out, comparing it to Nazi Germany. Jewish employees should not have to choose between their identity, their dignity, and their livelihoods. They need to understand their rights, colleagues need to know how to respond, and employers need the knowledge and tools to prevent and address antisemitism effectively. That's why HRCCO developed Antisemitism at Work: A Practical Guide for Jewish Employees, Colleagues, Managers & Employers. Our new toolkit provides practical guidance to help Canadians recognize antisemitism, respond appropriately, and build workplaces where Jewish employees can feel safe, respected, and supported. 📖 Read the interview: thehub.ca/2026/10/22/its-bec… 📘 Access HRCCO's workplace toolkit: hrccharitable.ca/toolkits/an… Combating workplace antisemitism is everyone's responsibility.

"Antisemitism corrodes trust, damages relationships, and undermines the ethos of inclusion that education depends upon." Antisemitism in education is a growing focus for many, here in Canada and beyond. This report on antisemitism in schools & colleges in England is timely and revealing.
Important to be clear that the Bell review is not about Israel/Palestine. It is about antisemitism - anti-Jewish racism - and how it manifests. The report is now published. I encourage everyone to read it – particularly the testimony from Jewish students and parents. assets.publishing.service.go…

Per the report: 'Our default conception of a “college student” may be an undergraduate, but efforts to understand and improve higher education cannot neglect graduate students.' The report offers insight into the mechanisms and specificities of hostility toward Jews & Israelis among graduate students specifically, and the role(s) they play in the growing reality of antisemitism on university campuses globally. It is definitely relevant to the Canadian context, considering the reports on Canadian campus antisemitism released in recent months.

From the report's executive summary: 'Too many who argue “anti-Zionism isn’t antisemitism” are pushing for a free pass to engage in antisemitism, of whatever form, without consequences.' This new @OnlineHate report is rooted in the Australian context, but its findings on online antisemitism — how it has grown and evolved in recent years across varying platforms — are relevant across the globe, including here in Canada.
It will come as no surprise to those of us who track antisemitism and antizionism every day that three years after October 7, a new study finds online anti-Jewish hatred still at record levels — higher than any period since monitoring began. Not a single major platform has returned to pre-Oct 7 baselines. Traditional tropes (Jewish power conspiracies, blood libels) dominate, not “criticism of Israel.” This is for now the new normal, but one obviously we cannot accept. At @AntisemitismOrg we do our small bit to turn the tide and studies like this only make us redouble our efforts. The OHPI report is called Analyzing the New Normal. Direct.
