The Cleveland-Cliffs & Stelco story is not unique. The CEO is just a brash idiot who said the quiet part out loud. American capital regularly buys Canadian companies and weakens them to prevent competition. This is a major reason why our productivity is suffering.

When first reported, 2025’s jobs reports added up to 1.2 million new jobs. After revisions, the economy added just 116,000 — 90% less.

I now have absolutely no doubt that Donald Trump has major mental decline. Just think for one minute if Joe Biden had waved into the abyss like Trump just did here. Imagine what Fox News would be saying. There is absolutely no rational explanation for this that I can see. How about you?

🇨🇦 Cleveland-Cliffs just reported US$165 million in quarterly net income, not merely revenue. Its CEO says Stelco had its strongest quarter since the acquisition and contributed positively to EBITDA. So again: what is the justification for abandoning its commitments to Canadian workers? The company is happy to retain the financial benefits of ownership. Why should the obligations that came with that ownership be treated as optional? If Cleveland-Cliffs believes those obligations no longer apply, explain the basis. Pointing to difficulties in one product line isn’t, by itself, an answer. clevelandcliffs.com/news/new… #Stelco #ClevelandCliffs #CanadianSteel #Steelworkers #Accountability

Who is stupid enough to think after two years of high immigration requested by premiers, GDP per capita is a reasonable measure?

Trump attacks Canada daily now. Insults us, threatened us, meets with Seperatists, and tries to harm our economy.... He can't get a deal with Mexico either.... And still, Maple MAGA blames Canada for the trade situation Trump created? Really? Get lost....
Trump: "I do not want to lose as your representative $90 billion for the privilege of allowing Canada to have a healthcare system and other things that they shouldn't be having"

US: We care more about "flying" cars than people EU: We have universal healthcare, maternity leave, democracy etc etc etc One of these works in the long run, one does not. Let's talk about household debt shall we?

I wonder if this is all Carney's fault too?

Sounds so very familiar .. although, I was assured on here that Mexico was running circles around Canada in trade negotiations by those who always conveniently forget that Mexico and Canada really aren’t the problem.

Found it. 🔎 I went back through Cleveland-Cliffs’ own public statements and SEC filings, and they explicitly acknowledge the Canadian government undertakings, including employment commitments. This goes well beyond Ottawa’s announcement. Here’s what Cleveland-Cliffs itself put on the public record. 👇 1️⃣ July 15, 2024: Acquisition announcement “Stelco will maintain significant employment levels in Canada and Canadian representation on the management team.” Cliffs also committed to retaining Hamilton headquarters, continuing operations in Hamilton and Nanticoke, and making capital investments. This announcement was included as an exhibit to its SEC Form 8-K. clevelandcliffs.com/news/new… 2️⃣ October 8, 2024: Investor presentation filed with the SEC “ICA Undertakings support net benefit to Canada” “Commitments to maintain employment levels in Canada” Those were the company’s own words describing the acquisition’s path to closing. It explicitly acknowledged employment commitments connected to the Investment Canada Act review. sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/… 3️⃣ October 30, 2024: Ottawa’s approval statement 🇨🇦 “To continue to employ at least the same number of unionized employees and the vast majority of non-unionized employees” The government described a package of binding, five-year undertakings. These covered employment, collective agreements, pensions, headquarters, investment and environmental performance. canada.ca/en/innovation-scie… 4️⃣ 2024 annual report: Form 10-K, page 27 📄 “we may be unable to satisfy our operational, employment, environmental or other undertakings or commitments made to the Canadian government” In the SAME acquisition-risk section, Cliffs separately warned that U.S. tariffs could hurt Stelco’s business. That matters. The company acknowledged both the undertakings and the risk of tariffs. The passage does not state that one automatically cancels the other. clevelandcliffs.com/investor…

Literally the Ukrainian negotiators were in Miami last night at the exact time Trump decided to fuck them over They’ve been trying in good faith for a year to get a deal. Respectfully, Trump has no right to be involved

Modern AI images can be virtually indistinguishable from real ones, so visual inspection alone rarely allows definitive determination. The top tweet matches a real post from your account. The other three do not appear to exist in any search of your history. The image is therefore fabricated or heavily edited.
