I was an outlier in my hometown. Everyone and their mother was from the Midwest. "Away" fans live in the home market and go to the games
Arguing that vacation cities are “bad sports towns" makes zero sense to me.
Places like Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, and Miami will almost always have heavy away fan presence because people build entire vacations around seeing their team play there.
Combine that with transplants having endless weekend options, and the dynamic is completely different than other colder, smaller markets. It’s not a knock, just reality.
