Incredibly excited to announce that @ezrainc has been acquired by @function. Together, we're introducing the world's first $500 Full Body MRI. A bit more about the announcement below.

"we'll need to redefine what it means to be human. This new definition should focus not on the need for work or productivity but on passions, imagination, and relationships, allowing individual interpretations of humanity."

The way children learn is via play, driven by intrinsic curiosity. 90% of what they learn appears entirely useless when judged through the lens of their past. But part of that useless stuff is exactly what will enable them to make sense of the future. And it's impossible to tell in advance which part.

Exactly. LLMs are excellent at highly sophisticated mimicry - even better than many humans (since much of learning and life is mimicry). But its inauthenticity is its limitations. It can't go beyond itself. Humans have transcendence, in every sense of the word. We're #framers.
"I don't think we'll see systems that truly step beyond their training data until we have powerful search in the process." - @ShaneLegg, Founder and Chief AGI Scientist, Google DeepMind Full episode out tomorrow

Writing is more than a vehicle for communicating ideas. It's a tool for crystallizing ideas. Writing exposes gaps in your knowledge and logic. It pushes you to articulate assumptions and consider counterarguments. One of the best paths to sharper thinking is frequent writing.

“But part of the wondrous and exciting and humbling part of doing science...we will never be able to answer some of the questions that we would be interested in answering before we die. But that's part of the adventure of life now, isn't it?” #creativity technologynetworks.com/neuro…
The number one skill: critical thinking nitter.gq/emollick/status/141331…
This seems important: telling people to “trust science” can backfire, as it leads them to also trust & spread pseudoscience that looks science-y (like fake articles with scientific references). Better is to remind people to think like scientists, critically consideing all claims.

Optimism turns out to be a huge predictor of extraordinary longevity. Two studies, one 30 years long and the other 10 years, found that high optimism was linked to 11%-15% greater lifespans, even taking into account socioeconomic factors, health & more. pnas.org/content/pnas/116/37…

Fascinating, Singh's Infinitone DMT software allows anyone to access notes they’ve only dreamed of. Like painters using a palette of almost infinite shades, musicians can also make music with infinite varieties of musical intervals. #innovation expmag.com/2021/03/it-looks-…
