Yesterday, the House voted to delay the federal hemp ban by one month. It’s a step in the right direction — but it’s not nearly enough.
Thousands of Minnesota workers, farmers, brewers and producers depend on the hemp industry and hemp-derived products. I’ll keep fighting to stop the hemp ban and protect Minnesota jobs.

I support the current hemp language in the funding bill.
It bans synthetic intoxicants while giving naturally derived products a short extension.
That’s common sense, and it gives Congress and the Administration time to negotiate a more substantial bill.

Thank you @POTUS for your leadership on promoting access to Hemp-derived CBD.
I agree Congress must deliver on important reforms, and after years of working on this issue, my HEMP Act is one potential solution to address this important policy.

The Office of Congressman Jim Baird is saddened to announce the passing of his beloved wife, Danise, following complications from injuries sustained in a car accident earlier this year.
Congressman Baird and Danise were married for 59 years, building a life centered on faith, family, and service. A devoted wife and loving mother of three, she was the foundation of their family and will be deeply missed. We ask that you keep the Congressman and his family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Just to be clear: I am not delaying this bill. The timing is already fixed under Senate procedure. But there is extraneous language in this package that has nothing to do with reopening the government and would harm Kentucky’s hemp farmers and small businesses.
Standing up for Kentucky jobs is part of my job.

The @POTUS posted a video that strongly endorses the use of #hemp #CBD. This is a seminal moment for hemp farmers. It also comes at critical time - as we battle efforts in Congress to ban most hemp products. Thankfully, hemp will always have bipartisan support.

Hemp is under attack! Capitol Hill is buzzing that hemp could be banned in a matter of weeks. Together, we can stop this.

Texans do not want a total ban. They do want a reasonable, regulated hemp market free of dangerous products - especially those advertised and sold to minors. The gas station garbage must go while Texans enjoy the freedom they expect from conservative governance. #txlege #SB3
Feeling immense gratitude to those who’ve been true supporters of the hemp industry, especially @DadePhelan & @KingforTexas, who opposed the Oliverson Amendment and devoted countless hours fighting for smart regulation to support our veterans & protect thousands of hemp jobs. They are steadfast champions of free enterprise and they deserve our praise! #SB3 #txlege
