The shellacking my Grand Ol’ Party endured last night was predictable, and it boils down to two words; Optics, and Iran.
I told my wife, as the Iran war was being prosecuted, that this half-in/half-out strategy wasn’t going to work.
The Tet offensive killed LBJ every bit as much as Iran killed Trump and the Republicans this election cycle.
The takeaway: Decisive victories still matter, and Clausewitz is still the master of war; War is a political act, and is politics through other means.
