In 2020, Tommy Tuberville promised to donate “every dime” of his $174,000 Senate salary to Alabama veterans and their families. A June investigation found no evidence he followed through, a pledge now worth roughly $1 million. Tuesday night, after a reporter asked about it, Tuberville told staff to remove him. Then he called the media “socialists” and “communists.”

Mike Pereira on Fox just now about the 1 second in ND-BYU: "I talked to the Big 12 center, they said replay did clear it, but it’s pretty obvious here there is a second left on the clock and there should’ve been another play for Notre Dame.”

Sources Iowa State is hiring Jared Benko as the school’s next athletic director. Benko is Auburn’s Executive Deputy Athletic Director and the former athletic director at Georgia Southern.

College athletics is terrible at seeing problems around the corner. The 24-team playoff is the latest example. A lot of schools that supported this will regret it because in the end it won't be about the playoff or even the now diminished regular season. Notre Dame now has the best situation in all of football - almost 100 percent guarantee to make the playoff, freedom to schedule as it wishes, maximization of its own media value. To use the Big Ten as an example, why wouldn't Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State follow? If you can, be independent. That's the future. The 18-team Big Ten is bloated, distant and winning it carries little intrinsic or competitive value for the biggest brands. Those three schools can create a scheduling agreement that would increase their media revenue 2-3x and give the same control over everything. No sharing money. No forced TV times. Eight or even nine home games. Select your own schedule. Staying in the Big Ten now makes little and perhaps no economic sense. And yes, I do understand the league-wide research grants and so on, but there is always a way around everything. In terms of athletics, for those schools (and maybe a few more) it's lost revenue for the sake of loyalty and we know how that usually gets settled. All these middle and lower schools -- even in the P2 -- that supported this because they'll get in the "participation playoff" with an 8-4 record are facing significant risk in the future. There will come a day when they will now get a share of the Ohio State-Michigan windfall; only Ohio State and Michigan will. Maybe not tomorrow, but I believe a 24-team playoff makes it closer than ever. Thoughts?

If Washington cannot beat Iowa under these circumstances -- backup QB, short week travel, late night body-clock kick, less than a week after playing Ohio State -- I will personally relegate the entire university back to the Pac-12.
Sources: Iowa will start Jeremy Hecklinski tonight at Washington. Hank Brown is not expected to play, but could end up available in an emergency role. This will mark Hecklinski’s first college start, as he’s a third-year player who transferred from Wake Forest.

BREAKING: Just mere hours after President Trump announced the unsanctioning of Russian diesel, Ukraine responded by striking the Novoshakhtinsk oil terminal inside of Russia. It seems Ukraine is back to imposing their own sanctions on Putin.

Caitlin Clark on Kelsey Mitchell's comments about how hard it is to be her teammate at times because of how much attention the Fever receive: "I think as her teammate it makes me upset ... I think as far as people that have used me to demonstrate racist hate or rhetoric, that's not something I stand for ... It's never been something I stand for."

George Kittle reached 19.84 mph on this play, per Next Gen Stats. That's the same speed as Xavier Worthy's 41-yard TD today. It doesn't make sense for a player fresh off an Achilles injury to hit these kinda speeds so soon. He's a freak.
