THE UNTOLD PART OF MY STORY… 👀🎓
I was the Best Graduating Student in primary school.
I was also the Best Graduating Student in secondary school.
I've always believed I would graduate with a First Class because, in my mind, becoming the Overall Best Graduating Student meant I had to earn one. That was the vision! 🎯
In 2021, while in SS2, I tried JAMB, WAEC, and NECO for the first time. I scored 225 in JAMB and secured admission into the University of Ilorin.
Then came the ASUU strike, so I returned to secondary school to continue my education. In SS3, I sat for another WAEC examination, read like crazy, and earned one A, five Bs, and three Cs.
Sometimes, I wonder what my JAMB score would have been if I'd taken it again that year. I felt I could have scored at least 280+. 😂
I brought that same energy to the @UnilorinNGR . Along the way, I learned about the possibility of having a 5.0/5.0 CGPA. I gave it my best, and God did the rest. 🙏❤️
At the beginning, I imagined becoming the Overall Best Graduating Student at 20. I eventually achieved it at 21 because of that strike.
The timing was different from what I imagined, but the vision became reality. 🏆✨

I made this clear during my speech at the recently concluded Ekiti at 30 Future Summit: the era of celebrating academic excellence with a handshake alone must be over.
Our best graduates deserve more than applause; they deserve tangible rewards and opportunities to help them reach their full potential.
I am happy to offer a free mentorship to this student. Let us move beyond celebrating excellence to actively rewarding and investing in it!

After a long hiatus from X, I’m finally back!
I lost access to my previous account (@iyioladunjoye), so I’m starting afresh here.
Looking forward to reconnecting, sharing thoughts on science, research, life at Oxford, and everything in between.

It’s my birthday, and I have so much to be thankful for this year. Every single major target was met: job, immigration status, health, and finances.
It has been "a year of permanence", especially with my ILR and permanent job. Well, apart from a relationship that didn’t quite work out! 😅
My birthday happens to coincide with my lecture day, so I’m currently rushing out to deliver a lecture interrogating the electora(mis)fortunes of green parties. I managed to squeeze in some time for this photo right before dashing out to campus.
All celebrations are officially moved to the weekend! 🍾🎂🎉

On another note, have I always said most people don't know how and where to find full funding in the UK for international students.
And those who do have been enjoying the benefits "with reckless abandon". The UK has the highest number of fully funded scholarships after the US.
