Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth has called on the UK Government to do more to support families across Scotland with the cost of living. She has visited One Parent Families Scotland in Edinburgh, to hear from parents and see the support that the service provides.

To put it simply, if John Swinney adhered to the principle that the people of Scotland are sovereign, then theirs must be the last word on the matter. peterabell.substack.com/p/dr… #EndTheUnion #ScottishUDI

820 first-preference voters prefer @theSNP to fascism: nitter.gq/RBArgyllBute/status/21… It's as simple as that.
MID ARGYLL: JUST 29.4% TURNOUT The Mid Argyll Ward 3 by-election recorded turnout of just 29.4%. The figures: • Registered voters: 6,189 • Ballot papers received: 1,798 • Valid votes: 1,780 • Rejected ballot papers: 18 • Did not vote: 4,391 First-preference votes: • SNP – 820 • Liberal Democrats – 310 • Conservative – 230 • Reform UK – 151 • Restore Britain – 124 • Independence for Scotland – 95 • Independent – 50 George Love secured 124 first-preference votes for Restore Britain (6.97% of valid votes). Andy Buntin was elected for the SNP at Stage 5 under STV. How did the SNP mobilise 820 first-preference voters when more than 70% of the electorate did not vote? What motivated those voters? Local issues, party loyalty, candidate recognition or effective local organisation? And what prevented the other 4,391 from participating? With Scottish local elections on 6 May 2027, these are important questions for every party. We need to understand our communities, listen to residents and learn from the evidence. May 2027 starts with understanding October 2026. Please share.

If HS2 wasn't bad enough, Wales has been shafted again. Labour promised £14 billion for Welsh rail, but all we've got is a rehashed announcement of £30 million. Plaid Cymru will continue to stand up for Wales and demand that we get what we're owed.

Westminster’s entitled arrogance is almost laughable, but fortunately it’s coming to an end. I wish England well as an independent country and I’m sure they will prosper.

Again it’s no coincidence that our media are massively racist and Islamaphobic
Excellent investigative journalism catching Israel red handed.

WM has scrapped the standing charge on gas, by adding it to the unit price. So who loses and who wins? Those living in colder areas i.e. Northern areas and Scotland are the losers, adding up to 15% to the £400 New Year increase. The South East are again, no surprise, winners.

Never a better moment to read about the realities of the lives of the Palestinian citizens of Israel
Just discovered that my volume, "Citizens without Citizenship: Israel and the Palestinian Minority 2000-2002" (Mada, 2003) is available online: mada-research.org/storage/PD…

Scotland establishing a central bank does not need to wait until independence. Estonia established its own central bank before it broke free from the Soviet Union. The problem is Westminster would never allow a potential success story for Scotland.

Is anyone still surprised that English Labour is an England first Party?
When will we ever learn? 2 carbon capture programmes going ahead in England. £21 billion. Acorn in Scotland get promised £200 million. Now withdrawn. London will get £2.9 billion in revenues from Jackdaw. What do we suckers in Jockland get.Noise and deindustrialisation. Learn.

“Perhaps my best story that never made the papers was the day I came out of the David Kelly inquiry and rang my news editor to say the ambulance crew had questioned the slash marks on his wrist being the wrong way round, only to be told, ‘No, that’s not the line we’re going on.’” Important article from 30 year Fleet Street veteran Melissa Kite (@melissakite1) about how the ‘media’ lies by omission to run PR for enemies of the people. A clip from my Budget speech highlighting the gravest betrayal for the Just Transition in my constituency in the N-E of Scotland despite commitments to the contrary at the despatch box from previous Chancellors on funding for the #CCUS Acorn Project at St Fergus @SNP

As amusing as all this is why aren’t serious questions being raised in the press? Reid obviously has no qualms about using sex as a means to an end & she took donations from her husband’s firm who are accused of spying before trying to bed nuclear sub captains
Exclusive: The Bell has learned political editor of the Daily Record, Paul Hutcheon, has quit, after an alleged affair with Labour MP for East Kilbride, Joani Reid. As reported by Private Eye, Hutcheon oversaw favourable exclusives of Reid at his paper in past few months.

Feeling quite underwhelmed by #Budget2026 For Scots £200M for Grangemouth already cancelled. Today £200M for the Acorn Carbon Capture project cancelled. We really get nothing back for our industries, for all the energy we provide to rUK. A spit in the wind for pensioners help

Roedd sgandal HS2 yn ddigon gwael, ond mae Cymru ar ei cholled unwaith eto. Addawodd Llafur £14 biliwn i'n rheilffyrdd, ond yr oll rydym wed'i gael yw ailgyhoeddiad o £30 miliwn. Bydd Plaid Cymru yn parhau i sefyll dros Gymru a mynnu ein bod yn cael yr hyn sy'n ddyledus i ni.

Scotland just delivered one of the most powerful clean-energy statements in modern history. On multiple occasions, the country’s wind turbines generated around 200% of national electricity demand, producing far more power than Scotland itself needed. It can be done!!! No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #renewables
