Meeting Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in London today was a powerful reminder of what refugee protection can make possible.
The UK gave his family safety as they fled Nazi persecution. It also gave me asylum when I needed it most. We know first-hand that refuge can be both life-saving and life-changing.
Seventy-five years after helping shape the Refugee Convention, we discussed how the UK can partner with UNHCR to uphold its legacy around the world — strengthening international protection, ending long-term displacement and supporting the countries that generously host refugees.

A pleasure to meet @MIYAVI_OFFICIAL, Japanese musician and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, in Tokyo.

I thanked him for his longstanding commitment to UNHCR and his dedication to raising awareness and support for refugees around the world.
I look forward to continuing our work together.
