Yesterday, I met with representatives from every mosque in Ipswich and was pleased to be joined by other community leaders. I wanted to offer my personal reassurance that we will do everything we can to ensure our town remains a welcoming and safe place for the Muslim community.

Today, we pay tribute to former Mayor of Ipswich Dr. Albert Grant OBE who has sadly passed away aged 89. During 26 years as a Whitehouse ward councillor, he became the town's first Black mayor in 1995, and championed racial equality and community causes. bit.ly/4dxTVnE

It was an excellent, well attended use of force community scrutiny meeting. The community comments were thoughtful, focused and evidenced.
Robust challenge & sharing of experiences from our panel helps the police to improve services & ensure greater accountability. By holding them to account, we ensure police officers use their powers more confidently, knowing that they have the backing of the local community.

Topical right now. @SuffolkPolice welcomes public scrutiny of what we do and why, and how this can differ between forces and circumstances. Thanks to @ISCRE_Official for the chance to discuss such important issues to us all #professionalism #community #courage #compassion

We encourage anyone who can to attend @ISCRE_Official's Stop and Search Reference Group. We recently received a response to our super-complaint on s.60 stop and search which highlighted major issues but stopped short on recommending repeal. Read more: criminaljusticealliance.org/…

Sophie was on the @ISCRE_Official Board and chaired the @IpswichGov Equality Panel of which I was a member. She also taught at my son's school. She was caring, generous, fun and a real public servant of the people of Ipswich. She will be long remembered
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Cllr Sophie Connelly. Sophie will be remembered for her hard work, wonderful friendship and joie de vivre. She leaves a huge gap in the lives of those who knew her. Our thoughts are with her loving family.
