Fuck off. I've had it with Canada being treated as a flophouse for Americans on the losing side of an election. If you're choosing Canada for what it offers, great. But if it's because you didn't get your way? I'll say it again: Fuck off.
So, sore loser Trump supporters are threatening to, “move to Canada.” Go. Be gone. We Natives never wanted YOUR kind of white people here in the first place. My absolutely amazing white allies, followers and friends are more than welcome to stay here with me on MY land.

The tradeoff between efficiency and robustness shows up everywhere, including gerrymandering. (Tip: unless you've got a mountain of technical and logistical resources, select for robustness. Most people don't )
Important reminder: The goal of Gerrymandering isn't "safe seats." It's a more efficient vote (minimizing wasted votes for your party). A gerrymandered district is one you can consistently win by a small margin. So when there's a big swing, gerrymandering can lead to a wipeout.

Kansas last elected a Dem to the US Senate in 1932. What was important about 1932? Republicans passed the Smoot-Hawley tariff in 1930, and in '32 voters had the 1st chance to respond to its effects. Dems gained 97 House, 12 Senate seats, 11 governorships & the presidency.

The extent to which Canadians are obsessing over a U.S. Senate is kinda sad. I thought we were stepping back from Americaland?

This must be the Ontario version of the jacked up Prairie pickup covered in some of the same messages (F*** Trudeau etc), many different (MANDATE FREEDOM, I♥️🍁O&G)

Absolutely true. Growing up, fireworks shops popped up every October, corner stores sold them, kids would smuggle firecrackers from the States and the rezzes. I was weirded out when I learned this wasn't a big thing in most places outside BC!
If you’re new to Vancouver, you might not know that fireworks and firecrackers on Halloween have been a tradition here for generations. It’s part of our city’s culture and identity. Some of you need to stop stripping away the things that make Vancouver unique and fun.

Don't worry, they'll catch up eventually.
Time zones in North America are going to be pretty illogical starting tomorrow. Thrilled we’re not falling back an hour in BC, but not looking forward to being ahead of California and the rest of the West Coast by an hour for the next five months.

FACT CHECK: true. This fact is indeed fun.
Fun fact: the country with the most affordable groceries is the country with the most rocket launches and the most billionaires.

You're confusing the election call with the actual election date. It's Election Day that matters for the pensions, not the writ drop. Calling it a day earlier wouldn't have changed the Oct 24 vote, as it has to be on a Saturday per BC law.
This explains why Premier Eby called the election two days after KLF resigned, rather than one.

RIP Sir Patrick Stewart, 86. Wonderful actor, an amusing and intelligent character, and a Yorkshireman to his bootstraps. Persuaded me to switch from PG Tips tea to Yorkshire Gold, for which I will be forever grateful. ‘Strong and flavourful,’ he told me over breakfast. Like the man himself.

NEW: Niki Sharma tells reporters there was tears at yesterday’s outgoing NDP caucus meeting. Says David Eby apologized to caucus. She’s not sure whether an interim leader will be appointed today at the new caucus members meeting. #bcpoli

Jfc, politics isn't therapy, we're never going to interrogate our trauma or whatever. You get in and you do as much as you can before subsapient swing voters get bored of you.
Real talk - I worry that winning will paper over our party’s bigger problems and slow us down from doing deeper interrogating and work necessary to build long-term sustainable power, let alone what we need in order to win in 2028. amandalitman.substack.com/p/…

After a decade of ever-increasing crazy (base-pandering, niche issues, attention grabbing, outrage hunting) from politicians, maybe normie really is what the public wants. Now whether Doerksen's government actually acts that way, I don't know. Not sure anyone does for now.
Our “Exit Poll” in British Columbia: Only 31% of #bcpoli voters say they would have cast a ballot for the BC Conservatives under John Rustad and just 25% say they would have done the same had Kerry-Lynne Findlay remained as leader. researchco.ca/2026/10/26/bc-…

With Cenovus acquiring MEG Energy and Athabasca while Ovintiv picks up NuVista and Logan, the next step could be the funniest thing ever: the two companies merging to form a new company called Encana.🫥🪒

I shouldn’t be laughing at this… 💀 They were supposed to lift him just 10 feet, but the crane lifted him 100 feet instead. Poor guy fainted up there.

Congratulations to Lorne Doerksen on his election as Premier of British Columbia. I look forward to working together to continue strengthening the relationship between our provinces and building a strong, united Canada. I would also like to thank David Eby for his leadership, friendship, and partnership over the years.

Not to forget Walter Weir (though many have), the Manitoba premier who decided calling a snap election while the opposition NDP was leaderless was a “can’t-lose” proposition. And lost. digitalcollections.lib.umani…
David Eby is about to learn the same lesson about political opportunism that David Peterson (1990) and Jim Prentice (2015) learned.
