After suspending my campaign for US Senate, I relaunched my state PAC to support 16 candidates running for state House and state Senate. Today, it took me a solid 30 minutes to text ALL of them congratulations.
100% win rate. And a Democratic trifecta.

Matt Yglesias comes out with a massive bad faith attack on the first Muslim Senators historic win before the dust has even settled. I think you really have to ask why

It's radically dishonest how MattY is chosing to provide no criticism for Klobuchar and Benson who had basically just as unimpressive performances despite having the exact kind of politics he's suggesting the Senate candidates should've adopted. This is clearly a regional wave!
Replying to @mattyglesias
Winning Michigan by seven is just a lot less impressive than winning NC by 20 or Ohio or Kansas (!) by 5 or Iowa and South Carolina by 4 or Texas (!) by 12 and you should not trust people who can’t acknowledge the plain truth about this.
He does look good compared to Flanagan!

“It’s true the easy narrative will be that the GOP lost the election. They did. But it’s worth pointing out that the Democratic Party was being left for dead not 2 years ago, and now they’ve just managed the biggest landslide for either party in my life.
And fuck it feels good”

It’s also probably an oversight (and not at all motivated reasoning) that David Crowley and Abdul El-Sayed had about the same leftward swing in their races from the 2024 presidential election (9.1 points and 8.5 points, respectively).
Again, despite Crowley facing no attacks on his religion, facing far less in outside spending attacking him for the better part of a year, and not having his former primary opponent endorse his Republican opponent 48 hours before Election Day.
It’s probably just an oversight (and certainly not motivated reasoning) that Matt isn’t bringing up the fact that self-described moderate & ticket-splitter Josh Turek underperformed statewide officeholder Rob Sand by 2.5 points in two-party vote share, compared to Abdul El-Sayed underperforming statewide officeholder Jocelyn Benson by 1.5 points by the same two-party vote share.
Despite Turek facing no attacks on his ethnicity and religion, facing far less in outside spending attacking him for the better part of a year, and not having his opponent endorse his Republican opponent 48 hours before Election Day.
If you know something of the election of 1974 you know it spawned careers that literally lasted decades, including Presidential nominees. The massive 91 member Freshman House class have had long and deep influence.
As a group opposition to the Vietnam War was common, and they remained dovish throughout their careers.
Ironically Clinton lost a House race in 1974.
But the stars create yesterday will be in politics for decades.

I was insanely critical of AES throughout the campaign and consistently felt he was a bad candidate.
Dude won by 7 *with* Haley Stevens trying to undermine his campaign in an unprecedented way. Abdul did just fine, lol. Only underran Benson by 3.5%.

Raising a glass right now to Kamala Harris and every Democrat who forced Biden out - we not only have won the Senate but have won it for the next 4, and likely 6, years because she kept the party from collapsing in 2024
Tonight wasn’t possible without it, and I’m so grateful
