Elon completely dodged a simple math. "Benefiting the average citizen" has been the foreign corporate trojan horse since time immemorial. Remember Bill Gates pushing patented GM seeds across Africa and Asia under the banner of "saving poor farmers from starvation" only for farmers to end up trapped in debt and dependent on Western monopolies for seeds every season? I’m yet to see a foreign billionaire care about ordinary people when market extraction isn't the real goal. Elon never names an actual price for those rural areas. Starlink charges $27/month in its cheapest market (Rwanda), plus massive hardware fees. Who in remote rural India is paying that? domestic internet costs around $4/month?! The irony is wild: Washington bans TikTok and forces ByteDance out because foreign tech supposedly threatens "national security" and data sovereignty, yet expects an emerging superpower like India to hand over its skies on request. Any sensible person should see this for what it truly is.
