[Viktor leans in and kisses him softly, nudging their noses together affectionately] I love you.

[Viktor gazes at Jayce’s embarrassed face for a moment, studying it before his lips curve into a fond smile. He never really thought he would have children, but in those occasional dreams of passing on his mother’s legacy, he can picture Jayce there beside him] If your little cousins ate it all, I am making them bake me a new one. [He reaches over to roll down the window with a chuckle] …You would make a good father, you know.

[Viktor smiles fondly, though his lip trembles a little as tears well in his eyes] She is the most vivid part of my foggy memory. She gave me everything I need to survive, and I know she would be proud. But… gods, Jayce, I miss her so much that my heart feels bruised sometimes. Do you think she feels it, too?

[Viktor hums quietly, his gaze dropping as he traces the cup holder with his fingertips, lost in thought] She could only smuggle a few sodas in each year. Then she would drive me out to this field in the forest. There was a big, moss-covered boulder at the far end. We would sit together in the front seat and listen to ’80s rock, taking tiny sips to make them last the entire album. [He takes the plastic case and turns it over in his hands] Joan was her favorite, though.

Ximena took me to the market today. It was really nice to spend some time with her, just the two of us. I think she did more talking than I, heh, but I am rather used to that. Aside from a few, ah… drastic evasions whenever the topic of grandchildren came up, it was a lovely afternoon. She even helped me find some treats to my liking :) …I suppose that, on a day spent with someone I can call a mother figure, and when the veil between this world and the next is growing thin, it was fated that I would stumble upon that stall selling old CDs…
