Burundi, Uganda, & Rwanda have long considered specific parts of eastern DRC "their" economic hinterland. After acts of 'hinterland piracy', in 2021, they each put boots on the ground; Uganda and M23 also rehabilitated roads.
This has turned into a regional trade war.

Been quoted in this. Think what's damaging is it raises the question of whether 'Manchesterism' is something real, or Potemkin growth propped up by oil money theguardian.com/politics/202…

Israel just blew up a public school in Mansouri, South Lebanon.
Not a military base.
A school.

This is why I haven't retweeted any videos like this from Palestine or Lebanon. In our effort to humanize our people, we are putting a target on them. It's a vicious circle.

In 2024, UK officials received clear evidence that UAE-backed forces were preparing for mass atrocities. Rather than act, they suppressed it.
Yale researcher @nattyray11 (Nathaniel Raymond) testified that the FCDO told him "significant private pressure" from the UAE meant the UK would not publicly link Abu Dhabi to arming the RSF. They even asked his team to release the data themselves because the government couldn't.
When El Fasher fell in October 2025 with an estimated 60,000 civilians killed in what the UN called genocide a senior UK official reportedly asked Raymond to downplay the death toll for "political" reasons.

💢 ITV News reports that UAE-funded mercenary Abraham Golan ran a covert surveillance operation in London in 2016 targeting British academic Anas Altikriti, head of the Cordoba Foundation, which the UAE had designated a terrorist organization over alleged Muslim Brotherhood links that Cordoba denies.
🔹Golan, an Israeli-Hungarian former French Foreign Legion soldier, had previously led assassination operations in Yemen for the UAE through his firm, Spear Operations Group.
🔹ITV says confidential Emirati records show Golan remained on the UAE payroll during the London operation, receiving a six-figure retainer and large bonuses, while messages show him describing the mission as work for the UAE.
🔹He and a former U.S. Navy SEAL allegedly tracked Altikriti’s home, car and movements and discussed potentially killing him.
🔹A British consultant said Golan offered him up to £100,000 to help lure Altikriti to a meeting, but withdrew after fearing an assassination plot. Police later warned Altikriti his life could be at risk.
ITV says it could not establish which Emirati officials specifically ordered or authorized the operation.

The EU has committed €800bn to war readiness by 2030, far outstripping anything that is being invested in climate resilience and green transition. This is not a strategy that prioritises the well-being of the EU majority.

It is unfathomable that Andy Burnham's new Government is continuing with the proscription of Palestine Action meaning huge numbers of police resources are being redeployed and used to police and arrest pensioners peacefully protesting a genocide.
