🇪🇬 An Egyptian court ordered the closure of Mada Masr, one of the last independent news outlets in Egypt, and the detention of its editor-in-chief, Lina Attalah, until she pays a fine of about $50,000.
Drop Site Middle East editor Sharif Abdel Kouddous, who worked at Mada Masr for four years, told Democracy Now! that it is "a dark day for journalism, not just in Egypt, but in the entire Arab world."
Founded in 2013 amid Egypt's revolution and counterrevolution, the outlet has survived jailed journalists, deported staff, police raids and a website block lasting nearly a decade. But Tuesday's ruling is "an unprecedented escalation," Sharif said.

غارات مؤسفة، بالأخص في ظل وجود لجان تنسيق بين البلدين على مستويات متعددة، كما أن حادث كنيسة الكرك الإجرامي نفذه أردنيون. استسهال سفك الدماء أمر معيب، والغارات تشبه أفعال جيش الاحتلال جنوب سوريا، فالمفترض بالأردن أن يعزز الأمن السوري، لا أن يقدم على مثل هذه التصرفات. فدماء نساء وأطفال وشباب المسلمين لا ينبغي أن تكون مجالا للاستعراض والانتقام من حوادث لا علاقة لهم بها.
بيان صادر عن الحكومة السورية: تتابع الجهات المعنية باهتمام بالغ التطورات الميدانية في الجنوب السوري إثر الغارات التي نفذها سلاح الجو الأردني قبل قليل، والتي أدت لوقوع شهداء وجرحى بينهم مدنيون وأطفال، وتؤكد أن هذه العملية العسكرية لم يجرِ أي تنسيق بشأنها مع الجانب السوري مسبقاً.

حياة الطبيب الشاب أحمد الوليد الشال في خطر حقيقي، وكل دقيقة تمر عليه داخل زنزانته تقربه من الموت البطيء.
أحمد يعاني من ورم في الدماغ، وسبق أن أجرى جراحتين في صغره. واليوم، عادت له الأعراض بشكل مخيف؛ فقدان للتوازن، وازدواج في الرؤية، وصعوبة في تحريك يده.
ورغم تأكيد الأطباء في مستشفى خارجي عام 2023 على وجود كتلة بالدماغ وحاجته لتدخل جراحي عاجل، أعادته إدارة السجن لزنزانته وتجاهلت ألمه!
وفي تصرف منزوع الإنسانية، يرفض أطباء السجن إطلاع أسرته على تقاريره، ويدّعون أن ألمه مجرد "حالة نفسية"، بينما يربط حراس السجن الموافقة على إجراء عمليته الجراحية بقرار من الأمن الوطني.
أحمد يحتاج إلى تدخل جراحي فوريًّا لإنقاذ حياته. الإهمال الطبي هنا ليس مجرد تقصير، بل هو حكم إعدام آخر يُنفذ ببطء.

وفاة المعتقل خالد محمد عبدالله الشافعي، الأربعاء 21 أكتوبر 2026، بمستشفى الأحرار إثر تدهور حالته الصحية، بعد نحو 6 أشهر من احتجازه بمركز شرطة الإبراهيمية بمحافظة الشرقية
يذكر أنه كان مقررا بتر ساقه بمستشفى ههيا المركزي الأحد الماضي، قبل نقله إلى مستشفى الأحرار وسبق اعتقاله عام 2022، وفق مؤسسة جوار الحقوقية

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. A new book alleges that Dutch intelligence hacked Jared Kushner's phone and watched him access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions of dollars that came from a bank in Azerbaijan.
The claim comes from an excerpt of Princes and Thieves, a book by investigative journalist Matthew Cole about Kushner and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
Cole says a source he considered reliable told him in spring 2020 that Kushner appeared to transfer large sums from the account to other people, including a warlord, a mercenary and a former hit man.
The excerpt's headline says the transfers totaled more than $700 million and that the bank accounts linked Trump's son-in-law and former senior adviser to Israel, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
