I still contend that Florida State getting shafted in 2023 is one of the travesties of college football. They were literally an undefeated power 4 champion and had the best defense in the country. They just beat a top 15 team by 10 points in a neutral site with a new QB. But FSU didn't make as much money for ESPN as Alabama or Texas (especially with a potential Alabama Texas rematch) so they were left out.
Jokes on the committee though. They didn't get that Texas Alabama rematch they wanted. Both teams lost.
Tell me - what blue chip athlete would want to play for a team who can go undefeated and still get left out of a 4 team playoff? It's no wonder FSU struggled after that.
It was unforgivable and did perhaps irreparable damage to the sport. I know Texas beat Alabama by 10 at their place, but it would have been more forgiveable to put Alabama in over Texas than to put them both in over FSU. FSU should have been a lock. β at Maple Bluff, WI
