Portland’s Royal Sonesta: bought for $108.3M in 2016. Now reportedly sold for $6.83M for 220 rooms—just $31,000 per key. A staggering 93.7% price collapse.
This is what happens when government fails at public safety, downtown disorder spirals, Measure 110’s consequences go unaddressed, and Multnomah County’s mental-health system fails people in crisis.
Tourism doesn’t thrive where visitors feel unsafe and downtown businesses struggle to survive.
Portland didn’t get here by accident. Policy choices have consequences—and taxpayers, workers, businesses, and property owners are paying the price.

A thrashing next week would be a disaster for the Republican Party. But it might be the start of the road back for conservatism. wsj.com/opinion/these-republ…
These days he’s a religious gent and a shepherd to drifting youth, a golf addict, sober as a mullah, and insists his critics have always taken him far too seriously. He loves America and capitalism.

For those who weren't around for, or have memory-holed, the lean times of the mid-2010s golf industry, Mark King was the guy behind the legendarily whack notion that a 15-inch cup was going to save the game.
"I would bet that in five years, 90% of golf course facilities are having events with a 15-inch cup." youtu.be/xFIM1E8G_3E?si=Pm8L…
As @SBJ reported over the weekend, LIV has made the Mark King hire official.
In its press release announcing the move, LIV said it "remains on track to secure the support needed" to complete its investment from BC Partners.

Tips for reporters on how to interview Abdul:
1) You ask the Qs. He doesn’t.
2) When he asks you a Q, ignore him. Ask your Q again.
3) When he says, “That’s not the Q, the Q is” ignore him. Ask your Q again.
4) When he doesn’t answer, ask him why he refuses to answer.
Do your damn job!

Ya'll, this is nuts.
Hundreds - that's right, HUNDREDS - of armed robberies between 2022 and 2024 weren't real.
They were staged by the "victims" as part of a massive immigration fraud scheme to secure U-visas for themselves and their families.

Americans really can't imagine third world fraud like this. One of the fake victims was accidentally shot during the fake crime! The guy who set up hundreds of fake robberies, because apparently victims of crimes have an easier time getting visas, only got 2 years in prison.

🚨We are so back! It’s almost November which means we get Paul Finebaum trying to explain how results on the field don’t matter.🚨
“I think Texas is one of the 12 best teams in the country, whether they lose two games or three games.” 🤔
@finebaum makes a case on why the Longhorns deserve to be in the College Football Playoff.

Law professor Josh Blackman called the NYT out on politically labeling conservatives more often than liberals, and editor Patrick Healy acknowledged he was right:
“It can come off like The Times treats liberals as normal and conservatives as unique and worthy of labeling.”

I remember being in a small group meeting in SF at the Morgan Stanley TMT conference at the Palace about a decade ago when she was CEO of Yahoo. She was talking to us about the innovation and new products at Yahoo and nobody cared. Why? Well at the time YHOO’s stock valuation was like 80-90 pct based on the price of Alibaba (BABA) given their holding of the stock that had just gone public.
She asked us in the meeting why YHOO’s stock was so weak (BABAs stock was weak as China macro was showing signs of weakening). A single manager CIO/founder came clean and had to explain to her everybody in the meeting basically owned YHOO as a cheaper way to get long exposure to BABA. She literally didn’t know this / was surprised. I remember being shocked at her lack of self awareness of what YHOO was worth / what drove the stock. She kept talking about MAVENS during the meeting and none of us gave a fak what she was talking about xitter.cf/nypost/status/21147706…
