Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original Life is Strange, is collapsing.
The French developer is facing a near-total layoff, up to 85 jobs, which would leave its French teams with only a small number of employees.
The studio has struggled with a string of underperforming releases, the most recently the sci-fi adventure Aphelion.
Don’t Nod has warned that it may not have enough funding to continue operating beyond January 31, 2027, and has entered a French “safeguard” procedure to restructure its finances.

Yah but you didn't.
"I could just copy you and make this with ai"
Yah but you're not going to.

On this day in 2002, Russian forces used fentanyl-based gas to end the Moscow theatre hostage crisis. They didn't tell doctors what gas they had used, leaving them unable to properly treat the victims. Some estimates put the death toll at 130 hostages.
Putin thanked the special forces for their bravery.

The odd situation with AI is that there is clearly a financial bubble, which may pop any day now, but the underlying technology is if anything *under* hyped.
People just aren’t using it to its full potential. How many people do you know using Grok Bot or equivalent? Outside coding who uses agents to their full potential? How many cities have actually adopted autonomous vehicles to the extent SF and Austin have?

@Steam is trying to be good with the AI label, but they are walking into a trap. The AI label is used to drive hate campaings against developers, just like a woke (SweetBabyInc) label would be used. Steam should reconsider. We don’t need more internet hate campaings.

AI isn't replacing the creativity in game development. Its removing the tedious work standing between creativity and execution. More time creating, less time fighting code. That's not the death of game development. That's its natural evolution.
I'm not sure a lot of people understand what game coders actually do. We're not spending 9 hours a day finely hand crafting artisan software and expressing our inner dreams... 90% of the time we are fighting compilers and existing architecture, having to work out how undocumented code works, and tracking down obscure bugs and behavioural issues.
Most of game programming is just difficult, tedious, laborious grunt work, and the cognitive load we have to endure to get anything done is tiring and frustrating. No game coder is doing it for this 90% of the job.
We make games because the 10% that IS actually about making things fun and expressing ourselves is so incredibly rewarding it makes the other 90% bearable.
Now imagine if there was a tool, some kind of AI agent maybe, which could do most of the 90% grunt work for you, leaving you to just make all the decisions and express your creativity. How amazing would that be. How completely revolutionary would that be.

I remember the anti-AI Reddit cope at the start of vibe coding “in 12 months they’ll scramble to hire senior devs to fix the mess!!”
Well turns out you’re the one that left a mess that we can now fix
New on our Frontier Red Team blog: using Claude to formally verify software at large scale.
Formal verification can prove that code is free of certain bugs, but historically it has only been feasible for small codebases (or required a lot of expert time).
With AI models, however, this is beginning to change. In collaboration with @theoremlabs, we used Claude to prove security properties in over one hundred real-world open-source libraries over the span of a few weeks.

One thing I've learned from reviewing indie games:
Sometimes the most valuable feedback isn't pointing out a massive bug.
It's noticing one small thing the developer has become so used to that they don't even realize it's confusing to new players.

I hope that adding that shit and owning the chuds was worth it, BioWare.
One of the best studios with a legendary franchise ruined for adding that non-binary shit and options for the modern audience, leaving out a trash game that no one liked, not even journalists.
Hope the franchise is given to a more competent studio.
