1. The wording is devious & malicious. @naomicfisher is well aware that her anecdotal evidence represents <1% of school students but uses the word “system” to present them as wide-spread, institutionalised cruelty. Pitting teachers & parents against one another.
Why won’t I just stay in my lane, stop talking about our school system and get on with treating mental health problems? Because every day I hear about practices in schools which cause distress - and I’m being asked to resolve the distress as if it, not the practice, is the problem. I’m being asked to be complicit in practices which are damaging to young people’s well-being. I’m being asked to tell young people that the problem is them, that they’re wrong to feel the way they do and with a bit of therapy they can go back to the unchanged system. I’m being asked to tell them that the system is right and they are wrong. What practices, you ask? Putting young people into isolation for haircuts, or nose piercings. Instant detentions for minor uniform transgressions. Young people who have struggled into school being greeted with a behaviour point because they were three minutes late, and then another behaviour point for not taking their coat off immediately. Children who have had a very difficult term ending it off with being excluded from the school trip due to poor attendance. I hear these stories from multiple families, all over the UK. There’s nothing wrong with people who feel distressed and anxious when they are in a system which creates distress and anxiety. Our children aren’t the problem, they are pointing out the problem.

We need to start opposing the ‘trauma informed’/‘restorative conversation’ culture that’s responsible for diminishing sanctions.
Here's what teachers responded yesterday on teachertapp.co.uk

You keep doing this. You keep jumping from one group to another and, when it's pointed out, saying, "How dare you suggest they couldn't be both!" It isn't that the small overlap doesn't exist. It's the fact that you only want to discuss the small overlap even though that would be an almost completely different issue.

Dear Manchester United, Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, In 1958, Manchester United lost eight players in the Munich air disaster. Despite that unimaginable tragedy, a patched-up team finished 9th in the league, reached the FA Cup final and the European Cup semi-finals. The following season, they finished 2nd. Fast-forward to today. We watched hundreds of millions of pounds’ worth of footballers stroll around in the West London sunshine as though they were enjoying a Sunday walk in the park with their kids. So-called world-class players, afforded every conceivable privilege and advantage, seemingly incapable of mustering the courage, pride or determination to fight for that badge. 16th in the league. Weak. Pathetic. Gutless. But it’s the absence of fight that disgusts me most. No fight whatsoever. In 1958, the surviving United players faced adversity that this pampered generation could scarcely begin to comprehend. Yet they fought, persevered and rebuilt. Today, with billions squandered, you’ve systematically dismantled the very club those men sacrificed so much to rebuild. Players, directors and owners alike, you are an absolute disgrace to the name, the badge and, above all, the history and memory of the men who made Manchester United great. They built a legacy through courage, sacrifice and an unbreakable will to win. You’ve inherited that legacy and appear perfectly content to destroy it. Sell the club now

"Memorization is a scaffolding for more complex ideas" beautiful!
Memorization has an unfairly negative reputation. I recently spent a few hours memorizing the names of all the countries in the world and it's such a clear improvement in how well I can understand and reason about other topics. Memorization is scaffolding for more complex ideas

The problem is the squad isn't fit enough. So they probably do look good in training because they're up against players in a similar physical condition. Then reality hits on match day.
Michael Carrick on dressing room morale: "My responsibility is to the players. Outside is not for me to focus on. I know we can affect. I know what help the group need, guidance at certain times and dealing with things, that's part of my direct role. Of course we've spoken. We have meetings. The boys are hungry. We're hurting because we haven't won enough football games. But there is an intensity, an edge, a hunger to do better."

We need to call class disruption what it is: educational vandalism.

That clip of Carrick being applauded by the fans only for them to completely switch up on the players as soon as he entered the tunnel might be one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen as a supporter. The longer this goes the more magnified that microscope will become, you can’t overlook such a toxic pattern anymore.

Thing is with #MUFC, the people who have the power to sack people are actually the people who need to be sacked.

The teacher who gives a failing grade has to explain it to the student, the parents, and the principal. The teacher who gives everyone an A has a quiet weekend. Still confused about how grade inflation has gotten so bad?

It’s amazing how many “progressive” educators use this tactic on X. It’s almost as if they have no confidence in their ability to win an open debate so they have to silence opposing views. History tells us it’s usually the good guys who censor free speech, right? 🤔
Ah Educator Supe - I see that you blocked me, not to avoid seeing my posts, but so you can snipe at me with me being able to respond. I’m sure that’s the kind of behaviour that someone who has the moral high ground/superior argument would display…

Anyone believing Man Utd’s results & performances this season are down to the fact they haven’t got a back up left back & another striker are deluded.
No squad is perfect & has two top players for every position, especially one that’s underperformed & missed out on CL as much as Man Utd. Rashford/Cunha/Zirkzee/Mbeumo are better options than Man City have. City have a midfielder as 1st choice RB & the Lewis role is Dorgu at MU.
