Was an enormous privilege to collab on this selection of hot autumn essays with Emily, a wonderful group of brilliant MPs, and the Women’s Budget Group.
Great to contribute an essay to this collection and big thanks to @GoodGrowthFdn and @WomensBudgetGrp
Read my piece on how Britain could lead the world in tech if we put women at the heart of the industry ⬇️

Big night last night for Harry Kane but also specifically my alum @ChingfordSF. A victory for everyone that attended I say.
Shocking from Angela Rayner. Just one bottle of Sauvignon Blanc surely isn’t going to last the apocalypse.

Again, I don't get this. Robert Jenrick knows how these issues resonate with the public. That's why he's been doing a whole thing on fare-dodging and shop-lifting.
Some criticism of this being beneath a PM totally misses the fact that this isn’t just an everyday annoyance, the behaviour of enforcement companies is seen as emblematic of a rigged/exploitative system and is entirely the sort of cause of misery people want a govt to tackle.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced changes to car parking fines
- Drivers will have a 5-minute grace period to decide whether to park and 10 minutes to leave after a parking session ends
- A £20 maximum charge on appeal for minor mistakes, such as entering the wrong number plate or not displaying a permit
- Charges will also be cancelled on appeal for breakdowns, medical emergencies or broken ticket machines
- The £100 cap on charges will remain
- The rules will come into force as soon as possible and operators that break them will lose access to DVLA data

Sorry - what are you expecting me to do about the situation in France, as a UK consumer finance specialist on a micro-blogging site?

This sort of policy cuts right through by the way. Anti social behaviour on public transport is one of those symbolic things people associate with decline. Smart, simple politics.

This is actually how normal people approach sensitive matters, btw.
Zohran Mamdani: “I believe there must be room to mourn every single life. There must be room to mourn the lives of the more than 1,100 Israelis that Hamas killed three years ago. There must be room to mourn the 74K Palestinians the Israeli government had killed since. What I so appreciated about being at the vigil yesterday evening, as I had been the year before, is that it was a vigil that brought together New Yorkers to read testimonies of their own family members, of others who’ve been killed either on the day or in the genocide since and ends with a shared vision for peace and for an end to the genocide”
I may be overdoing it with the befriending of Turkish cats. So much so last night one of these lads just walked in and slept in our bed FFS.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, like a Spoons drink before a flight. THAT is hope in every heart. THAT is Britain.
Richard E Grant either is every character he’s ever played or every character he’s played is simply just Richard E Grant. It’s hard to explain.

This bloke's English. I'm English. That's my nationality. English. I'm ethnically mixed race, of course. If you make assumptions about me based on the colour of my skin, you are being racist.
“If someone's going to call themselves English, I presume you've got an idea in mind?”
